Figured I'd give a review a try, so...here goes. Be kind.
Bobalu Cigar Company The Boxer Toro, 6 x 52.
Purchased this a few weeks ago at the Burnet Rd store here in Austin.
This one had a bit of loose wrapper about halfway up. I'm 99% certain it happened in my humi; careless handling. Nice feel to it, not too firm, not too loose. The burn was very even, even through the torn/loose wrapper. I did have to touch it up twice. Interestingly enough, it wasn't around the tear.
The first 3rd was very creamy. I get faint hints of butter pecan ice cream. No spice. And a wonderful honeysuckle aroma off the end. There is no honeysuckle around our place so I can only surmise it's from the cigar. The smoke has a blue-green tint to it which I loved (I tried to capture it in the pic). It doesn't throw a lot of smoke unless I puff it a few times then it's voluminous for a few seconds. The ash hung on for about 1.75 inches then dropped off mid puff.
The second 3rd gives me some leather and cedar. I start to get some spice at the end. About halfway through I get some metallic tastes which I find off putting. Fortunately, it only lasts for a few puffs. The creamy feeling remains.
The last 3rd is similar to the 2nd although I get more spice. The burn remains nice and cool up to the end. I finally set it down with about 1.5 inch left when I started getting some vegetal notes.
Overall, I give it a solid B. I have a few more that I picked up more recently that I'll look forward to trying later.
