  • BOTL UPCOMING MAINTENANCE

Hi Everyone, as mentioned in my introduction post, BOTL needs quite a bit of updating, patching and whatever else I might come across. Over the next few weekends BOTL may be unreachable on occasion as I do migrations or updates, etc. Just be patient - we'll be back! I'll generally try to keep these maintenances until later in the evenings.

I was bummed. We were going to meet some friends at a famous brewery and since doing the whole no-carb thing and their whole schemata is based on beer, I thought I was in for a dull night. That is until "Booker's" came out of our server's mouth. (mentioning that the had it, not the liquid itself)

Thar she blows! Looks much darker up close.

A sniff get you ALCOHOL, 127 proofs worth. But hold on, this is no gimmick bourbon. I caught almonds, toffee, some charred cashews, and that was just from the pre-guzzle.

The first sip was almost all alcohol up front followed by a long nutty (almond) finish. I want more, so I took another sip. HOLY CHIT! This stuff was so awesome.

single cask unfiltered bourbon goodness, mixed with fire.

2 thin cubes made it perfect. Didn't dilute flavor profile and kept it's sense of what it is, intact.

The kicker is that it was only $8.50!

I was worried it was gonna be like 12-15 bucks.

Go and do likewise gentlemen! You won't be disappointed.

And thanks to Doc for recommending it!

Bookers is good but you need to find some stagg. Tonight I am working my way through a bottle of 1968 tullibardine. Great night for drinking I will agree.

Bookers is good. It is even better when you drink from the bottle at the Mandalay Bay buffet.

As others have said, Stagg very good. Pappy is great as well. In fact, I walked away from a bottle of Pappy this afternoon (Hard to find where I live) because I already had $75 worth of high alcohol content IPA's. Next month I'm buying a bottle of Pappy 20 year. Gonna sip it through the holiday.

Absolutely adore this bourbon. Yeah, the 127 proof is daunting, but a splash of water tames the fire, and makes it one of the most flavorful, big bodied beverages I know of. Well worth the price as well.

You got a heck of a deal on it too my friend!

I think you were right about this bourbon. It's special and marches to the beat of it's own drummer! I could taste it after I got home, and not in a BAD way!

And yeah, I got quite the deal :)

I DEFINITELY see a bottle in my future. How does one go back to Maker's or Knob after this? :dunno:

Bookers is a Great bourbon. I love it.

I was at a tasting of the Small Batch Bourbons lead by John Booker Noe III (or IV I can't remember). He stated that he always had his Booker with a splash of spring water but you have to do it a certian way. You always add Bookers to the spring water because you were making the water a better drink. You never add water to Bookers because you are just diluting a great drink.
