  • BOTL UPCOMING MAINTENANCE

Hi Everyone, as mentioned in my introduction post, BOTL needs quite a bit of updating, patching and whatever else I might come across. Over time BOTL may be unreachable on occasion as I do migrations or updates, etc. Just be patient - we'll be back! I'll generally try to keep these maintenances until later in the evenings.

Great that they made it to the BCS but what BS. guess none of the big boys wanted to get embarassed by losing to a "small school" in front of a national audience. And it's the bowl game i'm most excited about. Hopefully this will open the door for smaller schools not having to go undefeated to be invited.

So. We get to see a rematch of last year's Poinsettia Bowl. Lame. That's like the Utah vs. Pittsburgh BCS matchup several years ago.

It's a bummer that TCU didn't get a bigger bowl game, but truth be told, it'll be a helluva good game between them and Boise. I'm looking forward to it.

I understand you alls frustrations, but these teams need to play bigger programs so they can prove they deserve to be there. That being said I'd love to see them play Texas, Alabama, Florida and the likes. But alas it wasn't meant to be.

Both those teams continually look to play the big boys, but they are refused because if they win then it would be similar to when Michigan lost to Appalachian State.....

Okay, well maybe not that bad.

So where do you guys think Boise St, Cincinnati, and TCU should have ended up? Do you think one of them should have made the National Championship game? Not being a smart ass, I just can't think where else they should have ended up.

I hate to admit it being a ducks fan, but Boise beat the ducks at the beginning of the season, and they are ranked 7 now going to the rose bowl. the whole bcs is about money, and if you are a big name team, ie alabama, texas, florida, lsu, and are in the top 10ish you could probably be in the national championship even if you dont deserve it.

They are trying to play the "Big Boys"

I am a HUGE Utah fan, we wooped Bama last year. Fluke? Maybe but what about laying a licking down on Pitt a few years back? Boise State and Oklahoma? I remember that one.
Something has to change. I agree the strength of schedule and blah blah blah, but TCU can hang with anyone this year, they are an amazing team.

I think TCU should have gotten Florida and BSU could play Cincinnati.

Nebraska fans would love to see Boise State V Nebraska in 2011. Boise State wants to run around playing the victim... "Boo friggin hoo nobody wants to play with us because we're too good!" Get real, no one want to play them because they want a huge pay-off.

Ya they want a pay off. Beating Nebraska would be a big pay off. Not saying it would happen but look at what they have done. They have become a very fun team to watch.

you cant underestimate the talent that boise st has... you saw what they did to oregon and oregon won their conference... im so sick of how the bcs treats the smaller schools.. i hope cinci somehow manages to woop on Florida... I dont usually like the idea of change but for this reason i really do believe college football needs some type of playoff system.. how it would work i have no idea but i do believe it is necessary.... Im sick of this Bcs bullshit..

After the way Texas squeked by nebraska think TCU or Boisie should of gotten a shot, but i knew that was never going to happen. I would of liked to see Boise vs Florida, Oregon vs TCU, and Cincy vs Ohio State. What it comes down to really is money, big schools/bowl commities want it and lets face it the big schools mean more butts in the seats and more eyeballs watching. we don't need a playoff, but we do need a more unbaised formula for ranking teams, i say you shouldn't start the rankings till wk 5, but those are my .02

Boise State could very well beat Nebraska, in fact, I think Nebraska would benefit more in beating Boise State (higher raking) than Boise State beating Nebraska.

Boise State wants a leg up, but they also want a huge cash payoff just like any other cupcakes.

I remember giving a bum a dollar and the only thing he could say was, "Ya got $50 bucks?"

Boise State equals bum.

I fully agree TCU should of got their shot, but Nebraska SHOULD of beat Texas. Texas will be destroyed by Alabama.

You can complain when they get a schedule as tough as Texas' or Alabama's. They just don't and so they are in the Fiesta Bowl. Get over it.

I think the national Championship game is good: Undefeated #1 Alabama -vs- Undefeated #2 Texas, winner take all. No, I do not think Cincy, Boise St, or TCU should be playing for any part of the National Championship.

My problem is that the #3, #4, and #6 teams are all "small teams" and should be given the opportunity to play the big schools in big bowl games, but the BCS is too chickenshit to allow it to happen.

Here's some more BCS bullshit: Cincy bumped from 5th to 3rd by winning their championship (by a measly 1 point) while TCU did nothing and dropped from 3rd to 4th.....just because their conference, the Mountain West, doesn't play a championship game?!? The AP poll got it right: TCU stays #3, Cincy bumps from #5 to #4, and Florida drops from #1 to #5. In both systems, Boise St. is #6 because of strength-of-schedule.

Cincinnati and TCU both should be playing Top Ten big schools in a big bowl game....teams like Florida, Georgia Tech, and Ohio State.

Even if you fall for that BCS-line-of-bullshit about #4 TCU -vs- #6 Boise State being a match-up of two undefeated teams....why wouldn't it be #3 Cincinnati -vs- #4 TCU instead, which is *STILL* a match-up of two undefeated teams?!? Then your top two bowl games of the BCS would be:

  • Undefeated #1 Alabama -vs- Undefeated #2 Texas
  • Undefeated #3 Cincinnati -vs- Undefeated #4 TCU

But no, that'd just make too damn much sense.

I understand that being from Texas you are forced to root for texas in anything, but saying they had a tough schedule this year is a little bit of a stretch. out of all the teams they played- Louisiana Monroe (6-6), Wyoming (6-6), Texas Tech (8-4), Utep (4-8), Colorado (3-9), #20 Oklahoma (7-5), Missouri (8-4), Oklahoma State (9-3), Ucf (8-4), Baylor (4-8), Kansas (5-7), Texas A&M (6-6), #21 Nebraska (9-4)- only 6 teams had an over .500 season. Is Texas going to bring in more people? Yes, but they didnt get the bowl based on the toughness of their schedule.
