  • BOTL UPCOMING MAINTENANCE

Hi Everyone, as mentioned in my introduction post, BOTL needs quite a bit of updating, patching and whatever else I might come across. Over the next few weekends BOTL may be unreachable on occasion as I do migrations or updates, etc. Just be patient - we'll be back! I'll generally try to keep these maintenances until later in the evenings.

So I just got my order from Famous that included a box of Montecristo Classics. The box says packed with a Boveda pack. I typically freeze all of my sticks when the come in before they go into storage. My question is do I need to freeze this box or is it pretty safe to just put into storage? If I do need to freeze it, I assume I should open the box and remove the Boveda prior to freezing? Any guidance would be appreciated! Cheers

Here is a pic of my new recruits.

I freeze no matter what, never had a Boveda pack explode or anything.

What is the reason to freeze?

By freezing the smokes, it's supposed to kill off the beetles living within the tobacco and their eggs IF there is any present. Plus it would help to probably inspect the cigars too before being put into the freezer or humidor.

Always freeze no matter the conditions. One day in refrigerator to cool down, 4 days in the freezer at -10, one day back in the reefer to thaw, one day on the dining room table to come up to room temperature, then into the humidor.

There should be no exceptions to this to prevent a beetle infestation.
