  • BOTL UPCOMING MAINTENANCE

Hi Everyone, as mentioned in my introduction post, BOTL needs quite a bit of updating, patching and whatever else I might come across. Over the next few weekends BOTL may be unreachable on occasion as I do migrations or updates, etc. Just be patient - we'll be back! I'll generally try to keep these maintenances until later in the evenings.

These are rolled in Miami, FL under the supervision of Pepin Garcia. The blend was created by Pete Johnson.

I've been working on my first box of these that I purchased in 2006. Pete Johnson and Pepin Garcia have been making quite a spalsh with their full bodied Tatauje lines, but this one is an effort into the medium bodied area.

This cigar is somewhat plain looking. It has a smooth, dull, almost veinless, milk chocolate wrapper and a simple peach colored band. No graphics or pics - just the letter C in a cantebriggia font, the brand name, "Miami" and "Cuba" all in black. The roll was solid and it had a triple cap.

The one I smoked today started off with a blast of spiciness around some rich, smooth tobacco flavor. After the first inch or so the spiciness started to tone down and was replaced by a jalapeno pepper flavor which continued through the first third of the cigar. The second third continued to be dominated by tobacco flavors but now with hints of cedar and cocoa. By the time I hit the band the jalapeno flavor had returned, but more muted and occasional hints of coffee bitterness.

Overall I'd put the cigar as a solid medium in strength and body - although it did have a decent dose of nicotine in the last third which left me with a considerable buzz. The burn throughout was consistent, but not even and it provided a good amount of thick smoke.

Overall a very enjoyable cigar. Single prices on these are in the $9-$10 range , box prices slighty less at around $190 for 24.

Not really - to me Perique has a tart / sour edge to it. This was more like a vegetal / spicy taste.
