Cigar: Cain Daytona 550
Size: 5 x 50 (Robusto)
Wrapper: Nicaragua Habano
Binder: Nicaragua Habano
Filler: Nicaragua (100% Jalapa Valley)
Took a trip up to Mac's Tobacco Pouch yesterday because I got an email from them that they now have these in stock. Took a half finished Brad Meltzer novel with me to read.
These sticks are really beautiful to look at with the minimalist orange band. Very smooth wrapper with little to no veins - a tad lumpy but really gorgeous to look at. Two matches and we are up and running.
I had heard that these were supposed to be mellower than the regular Cain, but IMO you couldn't tell it from the first half inch or so. I got a boatload of pepper with the start of a nutty taste. Pretty shortly, it tamed down quite a bit and was mostly nutty for the remainder of the smoke. It was really well balanced and I basically nubbed it about 50 minutes later. Bought a couple for the road based on this initial experience and will probably buy a box or two if/when a tax refund comes my way. Maybe I'll be able to afford a camera then for some photos.
