  • BOTL UPCOMING MAINTENANCE

    Hi Everyone, as mentioned in my introduction post, BOTL needs quite a bit of updating, patching and whatever else I might come across. Over time BOTL may be unreachable on occasion as I do migrations or updates, etc. Just be patient - we'll be back! I'll generally try to keep these maintenances until later in the evenings.

Cain Straight Ligero 660 Maduro

Vitola= 6 X 60 Double Toro
Country of Origin= Nicaragua
Filler= Nicaragua
Binder= Nicaragua
Wrapper= Nicaragua

Random House Webster’s Dictionary defines Cain; 1 Bible, the first son of Adam and Eve, who murdered his brother Able. 2 Slang, to cause disturbance.
I believe the use of the name Cain in this cigar is to cause murderous disturbance in all other cigar manufacturers trying to measure to this cigar.

The word Ligero is Spanish for light, meaning this cigar sheds light on how a cigar should taste.

Cain is a blend of powerful flavors with unyielding strength; designed by Sam Leccia built by Tabacolera Oliva S. A. Nicaragua, and distributed by Oliva Cigar Company.
The Ligero leaf has a defined aroma of espresso and liqueur, with more than a hint of leather and woodsy flavor. It looks to be a minimum of a double cap. It’s time to cut it.
The dry draw had the right amount of back pressure, almost perfect..
The fill of the cigar was hefty in the hand. The wrapper is dark brown and oily, smooth with almost no veins. It was firm with no spongy areas. Ok it’s time to burn.

I lit it at 11:24PM, it lit easily. The espresso and liqueur flavors were accompanied by the leathery woodsy tones, and there was a hint of slightly bitter chocolate. The smoke was lavish and coated the palate. The finish was rather lengthy and pronounced. The flavor is full; the strength is a little more than medium to full, and is as smooth as one could hope for.

The next third I was realizing that the one plate of rice and gravy I had for supper was not enough. I’m catching a little buzz. The flavors that I previously mentioned were being joined by a slight nutty flavor. The strength was now very full, but smooth.
I went ahead and ash the cigar at 12:00 mid-night it didn’t need it, but I didn’t want to take the chance. My wife is smallish, but she holds a black belt in frying pan. The strength was very full but smooth, not hash, it was very pleasurable.

At 12:14AM I can retro hale without any harshness. The hint of nuts has completely diminished now. The finish is lengthy as ever.

At 12:31AM the complexity of the cigar is very lavish. The buzz I had has slightly diminished. I will have to say the overall flavor and strength of the cigar is now full. The lavish Liqueur espresso is starting come on stronger now, and there is a hint of seasoned hey. The entire flavor held true to when I finally put the cigar down at 1:16AM, that’s lasting 1 hour and 56 minutes. What a wonderful cigar.

Do I recommend the Cain Double Toro; yes, a resounding yes? The construction was perfect, I never had to touch up the burn one time.
Trust me brothers your going to love it.

Thanks for the review, mate.

(Ligero is indeed Spanish for light; yet not as in light source, but light-weight)

Great review and pictures. I had one of these at a small B&M in Charleston, SC last week and enjoyed the hell out of it.
