  • BOTL UPCOMING MAINTENANCE

Hi Everyone, as mentioned in my introduction post, BOTL needs quite a bit of updating, patching and whatever else I might come across. Over time BOTL may be unreachable on occasion as I do migrations or updates, etc. Just be patient - we'll be back! I'll generally try to keep these maintenances until later in the evenings.

I had the pleasure of smoking this cigar with Studio Tobac's Ambassador Bryan "The Show" Scholle.

I joked around with the name Showstopper for the single reason that this cigar pretty much ceases your desire for any cigar in the same sitting. Don't get me wrong. You will still want to smoke another one but it's a hard one to follow up.

The smell and cold draw from this cigar is unique. It is a bit hard to describe other than not a typical Cain or Cain F. The draw was firm but not tight.

Initial light-spicy and potent. An intitial complexity that I could not quite pinpoint, however, spicy was the major role anyhow. Spicy on the palate and on the lips. I LOVE spice in a cigar!

As it was smoked down the flavors of a deep black espresso came to light with the spice maintaining a role in flavors. Some toasted nuts were in the background.

Towards the latter half the espresso was maintaining and the spice was still there but in a subdued fashion. You could still tell it was a major player but not overpowering the cigar. The generally ligero sweetness appears in a supporting roll in the cigar and not really noted until the second half.

I will say this. The cigar is one of the strongest I have had in a while. I got a bit of a cigar buzz from this animal. A nice lingering finish of a twangy goodness. As much as I love a few cigars in a sitting this one made me only want one. I will post some pictures asap.

In short-enjoy it, smoke it slow and soak up the goodness it has to offer. :banger

I would definitely say it's a winner. I am a long time Lancero whore and this one falls right up there with some of my favorites.

Just had my first Cain F yesterday and was immediately in love. I'm slowly liking the Lanceros more and more. I'll definitely keep an eye out for this one.

Thanks for the review.

I too love lanceros. A Cain F lancero... sounds great. The Cain F is already a potent cigar, I'm sure the lancero format only increases its potency. I'll definitely keep an eye out for these.

From a long time Ligero whore friend of mine..and I quote "It put every full bodied cigar I've smoked to shame!"

These won't be available for a while. Should be around the start of the new Oliva/Studio Tobac tour for 2011. They are gonna be in a 5 pack sampler from what I was told.

Great review. As a recently converted lancero whore and lover of the Cain F line, I am really looking forward to this stick.

I got some of these on the way for review and i like Guado says, These are Non Production cigars at this point and will only be available at studio tobac events in 2011. I am sure at some point they will be released i would think...

I also have a cigar coming for review called the Cain Daytona, another studio tobac release. However i am not sure on the details of the cigar yet...I think its a complete Jalapa Ligero cigar blended to be medium bodied.

Here’s the official info from Oliva:

Studio Tobac is currently focused on a number of NEW offerings. Chief among these is the all new CAIN DAYTONA! The CAIN DAYTONA is a medium bodied offering blended using only Jalapa Ligeros. Jalapa Valley is Nicaraguas northern most tobacco area. It is well known for producing the country’s most medium and smooth fillers. CAIN DAYTONA takes its flavor profile from this distinct area. The DAYTONA offers a solid medium taste with an abundance of natural smoothness. The result, a creamy cigar with true Nicaraguan taste.

Oliva launched the official Studio Tobac site including the list of members. Reps: David Wagner, Cory Bappert, John Gazzero, Ian Hummel, Brian Shapiro and Bryan Scholle were included.

Update: Another thing coming are the Cain F Lanceros, but don’t expect to see them for a few months. Ian Hummel also confirmed that the Daytona is not a limited release.
