  • BOTL UPCOMING MAINTENANCE

Hi Everyone, as mentioned in my introduction post, BOTL needs quite a bit of updating, patching and whatever else I might come across. Over time BOTL may be unreachable on occasion as I do migrations or updates, etc. Just be patient - we'll be back! I'll generally try to keep these maintenances until later in the evenings.

This 6×60 dark chocolate stick offers a chunky, firm wrapper with minimal veins and seams. It gives a peppery and sweet tobacco aroma. First light reveals a light medium body smoke with peppery and sweet tobacco flavor. The first third is a bit light on smoke needing double-puffs and tunneling a bit, prompting touchups. Flavors are consistent with the addition of a slight leather. The 2nd third evens out the burn a bit but doesn’t change the flavor profile noticeably, only bringing a slight harshness to the back of my throat. The last third brings a touch of cinnamon but overall the whole thing is very consistent. Strength wise it is just about topping the charts near the end here although with only 1/2 as much flavor. I’m ending the stick a good 20 min early at this point simply because this combo isn’t something I enjoy at all and don’t like the after effects of too much power. Smoking the whole thing would easily bring a 1:45 smoke time.

Thanks for your review Bryan!

I'm with Aloha on his statement, that's a much larger ring gauge than I personally care for myself.

I do believe that the Maduro Cain carries more punch than the Habano though.

6x60 is one of my favorite size smokes - but I really prefer the Cain F and Habano over the Maduro, it just left me flat with little flavor or punch.

A review like this wants me to try my fresh box of Cain Habano Robusto that is just out of the freezer. Hmm, I think that I have to wait some more but damn it is hard!

Is a lack of flavor due to the Maduro wrapper or the fact that a 6x60 is a big cigar and some of the flavor of the wrapper has been lost? I haven't smoked a Cain Maduro yet, so this is a question not a commentary. Do the other Cain Maduros lack as the double toro?

I think you pretty much answered it with your comment of the ratio of wrapper to filler. I have smoke cigars this size before and regardless of what wrapper is on there it's hard to taste any wrapper...the RG is so huge that it's burning mostly filler. A Churchill size is the biggest I smoke anymore because I can still sense the wrapper while a toro size in terms of taste with wrapper/filler is almost perfect. Everybody is different in their tastes as to how they want to pick their size. Some want more wrapper than filler and vice versa. Regardless, it's a great hobby where taste and size is up to the individual.:tiphat:
