I thought I would post a review of a cigar I enjoyed today.
It was a beautiful day here in Texas as I stepped out on my back porch to enjoy a Camacho Corojo 10th Anniversary Edicion Limitado belicoso.
I purchased this cigar from a B&M in New Braunfels for $12.50. This cigar looked very well constructed. It was just a touch soft but not to bad, slightly box pressed, with small veins and an attractive color. My Palio made quick work of the tip and the prelight draw was perfect with a very earthy taste.
I decided to start out with water, and wait until I got a better feeling for this cigar before I headed to the bar. Since the wind was not blowing too hard I reached for a bit of cedar to light this stick with. The first third of this cigar was a bit creamy and the earthy notes of the tobacco came through, mild to medium bodied with a leathery finish.
The burn was just fine, the ash held together fairly well and the draw was excellent. Even though I cut it pretty wide I felt that the volume of smoke could have been a bit better. As I progressed into the second third, the earth and leather dominated the initial draw, but a spicy finish that lasted quite awhile started to come through. It developed into a medium bodied smoke.
At this point I decided to head to the bar. I selected a Maccallen 12 with a couple of ice cubes.
The ash finally fell, and the leather and earthy flavors dominated with a pleasant spicy finish. The Maccallen turned out to be a wonderful pairing with this smoke and added a sweetness without overwhelming the smoke.
The last third of this cigar was very pleasant, It stayed medium in strength and body and the spice became a bit more pronounced, the spicy finish continued.
At about this point it began to taste a bit bitter and I let it die.
Overall I enjoyed this smoke, but with a 12.50 price tag I probably will not buy another, but it was worth trying and I would recommend you do so also. If I see a deal on these I would consider buying a box at <$150, but at retail price I would prefer a MC #2 or a Bolivar Belicoso Fino.
Overall 89/100
