  • BOTL UPCOMING MAINTENANCE

Hi Everyone, as mentioned in my introduction post, BOTL needs quite a bit of updating, patching and whatever else I might come across. Over the next few weekends BOTL may be unreachable on occasion as I do migrations or updates, etc. Just be patient - we'll be back! I'll generally try to keep these maintenances until later in the evenings.

Wrapper - Thick, toothy and milk chocolate in color.

Prelight Aroma - A nice sweetness with earthy tobacco notes and just a touch of spice.

First light notes - I get a lot of sweetness. I am pretty sure it's from the barrel aging and it's not an overwhelming flavor but you can tell it's there.

1/3rd - Sweetness is still dominant but I am getting some nice tobacco flavors on the background still with just a tiny touch of spice.

2/3rd - Sweetness has backed off a bit and spice is kicking up really enjoying the midpoint.

Last 3rd - The sweetness is suttle and the cigar has ramped up into a high medium intensity. The ligero is definitely present now and is shining through. This cigar is really good for something that I am considering as somewhat infused. I have a feeling I'm gonna nub this bastard.

Final thought - While I am a little hesitant smoking barrel aged cigars because they can most of the time be filled with an overwhelming flavor of whatever liquor that the barrel was aged in I really enjoyed this one. I would consider this a box worthy cigar. Definitely a try.

Great review. Have one sitting in the humi now, waiting for a good time to spark it up.

Out of curiosity, since I've been wondering a while and you used the term "semi-infused"; would it be prudent to store these sticks in the flavored humi?

Cheers,

Spenny

Not really. It isn't nearly the same as a Drew Estate or CAO Flavours. It has some residual taste left over from the barrel that has soaked into the leaves. However, it isn't infused into every leaf from the beginning to create a huge smelly concoction. Plus, as I understand it, only the corojo filler leaves are barrel aged. It should be fine if you leave it celloed. If you're really worried put a cedar divider in to keep them some what isolated.

I've heard nothing but good things from these. I have one that I picked up from ci, just want to give it a little humi time.

I'd assume these are much like Anejos, which are aged in cognac barrels.
