  • BOTL UPCOMING MAINTENANCE

Hi Everyone, as mentioned in my introduction post, BOTL needs quite a bit of updating, patching and whatever else I might come across. Over time BOTL may be unreachable on occasion as I do migrations or updates, etc. Just be patient - we'll be back! I'll generally try to keep these maintenances until later in the evenings.

this was my first experience with a candela... and it was interesting.

first few puffs are very spicy. feels like the way your tongue feels after eating a spicy pepper. interesting.

gone a little further... about 1" in, the ash is flaky, and the burn is a little uneven. a few more puffs and it fixes itself.

pepper flavor has gotten more subdued, but it's still a dominant flavor. it's coupled with grassy and earthy notes. the aroma is interesting... it has a certain sweetness i can't quite place... it's floral. a leathery flavor has come into play, along with a subtly sweet flavor.

this is a different kind of smoke, to say the least.

i must admit i didn't hold much hope of being impressed by this cigar (despite my Camacho love), but i'm kinda surprised. i'm enjoying this stick more and more.

nearing the halfway point, the burn started to canoe a little. a minor touch-up later, it's perfectly even again. i think i ashed too early.

halfway: the finish is grassy and leathery. the aroma adds a nuttiness and woodiness to the whole experience. the sweetness is still there, and the mouth feel is somewhat thick. it's not bad, as it's not heavy, per se...it's a pleasant thick.
the grassiness isn't bitter... it mixes with sweetness and spiciness and makes it rather smooth. this is a mild cigar, but it's complex, interesting, and well-balanced.

getting quite a nicotine rush from this cigar... it's nice. :flying:

the burn goes uneven quite a bit... it might be due to the candela wrapper, or maybe the wind (i have a pretty strong cross breeze where i'm at... which i'm lucky to have, since it's hot and humid and there are flies), i'm not sure which. it usually fixes itself, but some touch ups were required.

all in all, this was interesting. it was a great smoke, complex and full of flavors (though they are the ones you'd expect from a candela). it was at once completely as expected and totally surprising.

and... maybe someone can help answer this... do candelas have more nicotine due to the wrapper not being cured as long? cuz seriously... i have to go lie down for a while. :lookaroun

thanks for reading!

GRADES:

Burn... C canoed a lot, but it usually fixed itself. a few touch-ups required.

Draw... A- easy, but not too loose. almost perfect.

Flavor... B a nice array of flavors. well-balanced and enjoyable.

OVERALL GRADE... B

Mighty fine review and pic's my friend!

I have heard alot of positive feedback about the Camacho Candela but have yet to find any in my area. Now if you want to try another "stunning" candela you have to try the Illusione ~hl~ candela! :cbig:

I like candelas for a change up, and remember liking the Camcho. Really looking forward to the holy lance.

I liked your review so much that I have been looking for some but alas no luck.

Any leads on where I can snag a few ?
