  • BOTL UPCOMING MAINTENANCE

Hi Everyone, as mentioned in my introduction post, BOTL needs quite a bit of updating, patching and whatever else I might come across. Over the next few weekends BOTL may be unreachable on occasion as I do migrations or updates, etc. Just be patient - we'll be back! I'll generally try to keep these maintenances until later in the evenings.

Okay guys this was a cigar that I was super excited to buy a box of. Well after the site that I buy from sold out I had to wait a while again till he got restocked. When the restocking notice came I promptly ordered some 11/18s. Upon receipt of the package I found nine cigars in total that had something wrong with them. Either they made it past quality control, or got damaged in shipping. They appeared to not be packaged as snugly in the box causing them to sort of knock head to foot in the box probably. That probably explains the couple that had damage at the head and foot. Dylan at Camacho offered to do a trade box for box, so they were standing behind the product and offering good customer service. I opted to just keep what I have since I was credited back the per cigar price of the damaged smokes.

So tonight I decided to pull one out and give it a flame test. The wrapper has very small veins, and a couple of the cigars in the box had small holes/tears in them. It's not beetles it's just a poor quality wrapper if you ask me.

So I clipped and was greeted with a good draw that had good resistance. Once I had it going I realized that this thing is definitely going to play in the medium body game especially when compared to the Diplomas. I wasn't paying attention as much as I should have at first and didn't really pick up any specific flavors. It tasted like real good tobacco (no shit right?) at first. Then it started to develop what I feel is an almond flavor. The strength and body stayed medium through the whole cigar. It is definitely a smooth and creamy smoke. The burn was straight the whole way. It wasn't razor sharp, but the small spots that fell behind would catch up just fine all on their own rather quickly. Overall I didn't pick up much complexity in my smoking experience. I definitely liked it though.

I would recommend trying them if this sounds like something you'd like. I don't know if this is a "go out and buy a box or two" type of cigar. Taking their price into account and how much I like them at this point I will not be buying anymore boxes of these. The hype and advertising just didn't live up as far as I'm concerned. It's a good cigar but for their anniversary line I would have hoped for something a bit more special. Give me a Diploma 07/05 any day over one of these!

I would certainly agree with the almond flavor. I too liked it and even enjoyed it and i think you're right on with everything you said, but at that price point i'm going with something that fits my flavor profile a little more exact, like a tat verocu or cojonu.

Been there, done that, probably won't do it again. I like tats too much
