  • BOTL UPCOMING MAINTENANCE

Hi Everyone, as mentioned in my introduction post, BOTL needs quite a bit of updating, patching and whatever else I might come across. Over the next few weekends BOTL may be unreachable on occasion as I do migrations or updates, etc. Just be patient - we'll be back! I'll generally try to keep these maintenances until later in the evenings.

I normally only smoke CC's but lately I have been smoking through Nicaragua, DR, and Honduras for a change of pace. Today I had the privilege of smoking a Camacho Triple Maduro (11/18)

Pre-light
Perfect weight and feel no soft spots. Very oily and glorious sheen

Light
On lighting there was a wonderful rich taste. IT sort of tasted like wild rich and roasted shitake caps. There was also a lovely light peppery, spicy taste. This continues for the first couple of minutes. Then a rich earthy flavors dances throughout the bottom third. Great smoke, perfect draw, beautiful ash.

Middle Notes
As I rounded out the third - BAM - there is an explosion of tastes. The stick moves from that wild rice flavor to a spicy meaty flavor. Not quite a lamb taste but close. Great flavors of peppers and southwest like spices (cumin,jalapeño-like heat, adobo, etc)

Final
The stick developed further with the spices but never overpowering. very spicy and tasty. There were some roasted cedar tastes at the finish. Nice long finish, the tastes lasted in my mouth and on my lips for a while.

If Willy Wonka made cigars he would make this one. I swear it smoked like a meal. GREAT CIGAR 9.5/10!!!!

Great

I think that the 11/18 is excellently priced for the smoke itself. In the Saint Louis metro area, you can buy the stick for $10-$16. In KC it goes for $13-18 (I know it sounds wierd but there are wild swings in Missouri depending on where the shop is located). I think for what you are getting this is a very farily priced smoke. Hell, I have paid 220 bucks for 2 Chateau Yquem in London and thought I got over.

I say this knowing that everything is relative. I am sure that some months I pay house notes on cigars. But up until two years ago I only had myself to look after. Now that I have been married and expecting a child - who knows? I would like to think that I will still smoke what I like, but we will see. the point is even with my new responsibilities I think that this smoke is very fairly priced. But I just bought a box, so maybe I'm biased:king:

  Many, many better smokes for less.
I definately do not think that I smoke everything, however, please list for me what you think is better for a cheaper price. I think that all tastes are different, so I do not presume to name a cigar for your tastes, I am just curious as to what is better for you.:help:

I had a torpedo yesterday and it was fantastic. Yes, its pricey bit it was oh so tasty! If you buy them by the box they're around $11 a stick. IMHO it's worth it if you like it. If I had room I would buy the box.

IMO La Gloria Cubana Serie R
Any of the 000 padron series
to name a couple.

Each to his own. We carry the full line in our shop. They get smoked but usually only once then on to something else.

is the CAO brazilia considered a maduro ive seen it as is and isnt

The brazilia gol and the samba are my 2 faves out of that particular line....threadjack is over and we now return to our regularly scheduled post lol....

As to the triple maddie...I was gifted one...tried it....loved it...and got a fiver...as ppl have pointed out they are a tad pricey...So I smoke them when I feel like celebrating something or another lol...As for "other" smokes me personally I enjoy JDN's 1970 Antano's...the brazilia gol's...and also LGC Maduro's are all similar...at least to me anyways...(and inexpensive)everyone's tastes are different...As I like to say...one mans dog rocket is another's opus x...and vice versa...Perfect example I enjoy a cpl varieties of the PI line while a majority of ppl I know tend to think they suck...One of the great things I enjoy about smoking cigars is discovering/finding new smokes and the enjoyment I derive both from the actual smoking of the cigar itself and remembering where I got it from and whom...ie...gift...trade...bomb...or whatever...And hoping that sometime in my life I am able to meet some of the fine botl's I have come to know online....both here and at other sites...Okies..enuff rambling lol...they are good cigars...just pricey imo lol...len
