  • BOTL UPCOMING MAINTENANCE

Hi Everyone, as mentioned in my introduction post, BOTL needs quite a bit of updating, patching and whatever else I might come across. Over the next few weekends BOTL may be unreachable on occasion as I do migrations or updates, etc. Just be patient - we'll be back! I'll generally try to keep these maintenances until later in the evenings.

Does anyone here know where I could get a CAO Cubist Ashtray on the cheap? I have done a bunch of shopping around and I am seeing prices like 100-200:scratchhe waayyyyy too expensive for me but I love the look of it. Any thoughts? Anything similar or better? I don't like the look of stinkys, but I do like the Tatuaje style.... Help me!@!

$50 is about the cheapest I've seen them for on line. During a CAO event my local B&M was giving them away for free with a box purchase of any CAO cigar. The only complaint I've heard from someone that has one is that it doesn't hold a lot of ashes.
I still think they are pretty sharp looking though.

The funny thing is, yesterday I went with my brother to or local B&M. We were talking about ashtrays and we saw the CAO with a tag of $139.99 and were blown away by the price!

That's about the same price my local B&M usually has them tagged for. Big mark up huh.

I like the square shapes better, just MHO.
Thanks for the info.
Just a thought. I tend to like the Cubist also. I think it will hold the cigars more stable too given the long area to rest them on. I just didn't want to spend $50 + shpg. for another ashtray.

Thing is with the Cubist, once your cigar gets 3/4 smoked, now the entire cigar, cap end and all is resting on the ceramic, unless you hang the cap end off and rest the ash on the ledge. IMHO, great looking ashtray, just not very functional...still, I'm gonna make one.

I will take the prototype and let you know how it functions Wade. :chat:

Maybe it would help to be a little thinner than the original. Let us know how it works.

Yeah, and the letters fall off after like 5 mins. of being out of the box!
Pretty shitty design and quality for a $100+ ashtray.
Looks cool, tho.

This might be crazy, but how about emailing CAO and asking for one. I emailed Ashton and told them I just started smoking cigars (which was true) and bought a box of their cigars (which was true), and my wife was upset with me because I was using a candy dish as an ashtray (which was true).

They send me the large 4 finger round Ashton ashtray that looks like a dog bowl for free, shipped to me door.
