  • BOTL UPCOMING MAINTENANCE

Hi Everyone, as mentioned in my introduction post, BOTL needs quite a bit of updating, patching and whatever else I might come across. Over the next few weekends BOTL may be unreachable on occasion as I do migrations or updates, etc. Just be patient - we'll be back! I'll generally try to keep these maintenances until later in the evenings.

Continuing with my "back in the act" reviews I got to sit down with another cigar this evening after mowing the yard. If I keep this up I may have to buy some cigars in the near future . Any way, today we take a look at CAO's L'Anniversaire Cameroon robusto.

It appears to be a typical box pressed robusto cigar. The box press is a little more pronounced than the Ortega I reviewed the other day, but not sharply box pressed like the Oliva Serie G. Kind of a light reddish tan color, not as toothy as I'd have expected for a Cameroon wrapper. There is a semi-circular indention towards the cap. Not sure where it's from, but didn't effect the cigar any. Cut the cap and was plesantly surprised to find a superb draw (I have a habit of cutting too much from the box pressed cigars and leaves a slightly loose draw). Lit easily enough once I got out of the wind. Initial flavors are pretty light. Definitely some sweetness and a little nuttiness. Builds over the next inch or so to include some graham cracker, a definite nuttiness (reminds me of almonds), some light woody flavors, and a lingering sweetness on the finish. Pretty mild throughout and not a lot of changes in flavors once they develop. Burn was great throughout, no touchups required despite the breezy conditions. Did I like this one?

You tell me .

Are all of the CAO Cameroons the L'Anny series, or is that a special line?
Their website is of no help.

Wow, This review takes me back---I used to smoke these a lot when I was first getting into cigars years ago. Nice review---I might have to pick 1 or 2 up to take a trip down memory lane! :)

One of the first cigars I smoked many years ago. These are no longer being made so when you find them they will be ready to smoke.

Just smoked one of these a few days ago. I ordered the cigars international 92+ rated sampler and this BP robusto was included. Something made me grab it first. I believe it was the first Cameroon I have smoked as I have only been smoking about three years.

Needless to say, I absolutely love it. Nice medium coffee flavors, definitely mild-medium bodied. Seriously considering a box purchase. Very long lingering sweet finish as stated above.
