  • BOTL UPCOMING MAINTENANCE

Hi Everyone, as mentioned in my introduction post, BOTL needs quite a bit of updating, patching and whatever else I might come across. Over time BOTL may be unreachable on occasion as I do migrations or updates, etc. Just be patient - we'll be back! I'll generally try to keep these maintenances until later in the evenings.

Cao mx2 robusto.....
my 1st review here..this cigar was givin to me by tatuajeguy

prelight...very smooth clean dry ..the wrapper has a toothy feal with light veins all around.

pairing...iced coffee

1/3
very thick white smoke..good spice note and a touch of pepper..a good maduro...startin an uneven burn...lets see if it corrects it self...it needed a little touch up...

2/3...
still a good amount of smoke being produced...gettin a little woodys and earthy notes...very pleasent...and consistant with the first 1/3...spice has picked up a bit...gettin to be a good smoke...still wants to burn uneven...the wrapper has cracked at the cap about an inch down to the top of the band...

3/3
Ok the spice has really stepped it up...very nice...the earthy tones have deminished...a very sweet woodys note is on the back om my palete..quite enjoying this...
buring quite cool..especially as windy as this evening is...

final results....most cao's are to mild for me..but any of their maduros are fantastic..this mx2 is no exception...i think it has a better flavor profile than the gold maduro and the soprano...yet the brazilia is creamier...cant wait to try a mx3.... All in all would I smoke this again...yes...i enjoy a mx2 once and a while....cao has come a long way over the last 10yrs...if u havent had one in a while they are priced well and do have potential.... Id give this an 8 out of 10..i have a weak spot for maduros...and do like cao's to mix it up a bit...thanks again for the great smoke tatuajeguy....

THanks for the review! When I first started smoking cigars a few yrs back this was one of my favorites. Over time I strayed away. About a month ago I picked one up just for old times....and unfortunately I will probably never pick another one up. It was probably the worst cigar I'd ever smoked. I'd go as far as saying that it left such a bad taste in my mouth that if someone offered me an MX2 or a Swisher...I'd probably consider the Swisher first. But I'm glad you liked it because I have very fond memories while smokin an MX2.

And did you say an MX3?? Is this a new release they're coming out with?

Really great review, bro!

I like the MX2 a lot. It's a really under-rated cigar, imvho. Spice, chocolate, a bit of pepper ... a really solid maduro, especially at the sale/auction price! If it were full-bodied, it would be perfect to me, but as it is it's still a great 1st stick of the day.

The MX2 is probably tied with the Italia for my 2nd favorite CAO maduro (Brazilia being first). The MX2 is better in many ways, but that Italia just has a very unique tangy flavor that I don't find in anything else. This reminds me, I need to have a "CAO Week" soon to revisit some of these :)
