So I really enjoy most of the CAO cigars and have made it a point to try them as I find them. So when I was walking through my b&m humidor I found this section of infused cigars...yeah I'm a noob didn't even know cao made infused cigars. So I picked up the new Solfyre, cinnamon whiskey infused cigar.
So I wasn't going to do any kind of review, but I'm a newb and wanted to give it a shot. Just let me know how bad it is. I like criticism, it makes you better.
The cigar has a Cameroon wrapper with Connecticut binder and Dominican filler. The wrapper as stated is infused with a cinnamon and whiskey sweetness.
The Pre Light:
The construction seemed fine to me with a few spots slightly harder than others...get to those later in the draw. The wrapper had one vein that stuck out just a bit that went under the band. The wrapper didn't seem very oily and had a milky chocolate brown color. The Pre Light draw had more resistance than I was expecting but didn't seem really off for the smaller gauge. The infused cinnamon on the wrapper was definitely there, as smell and taste, but not as over powering as other infused cigars.
The Light and Draw:
This cigar lite wonderfully very even, and since I'm bad at lighting still, in my opinion, I was surprised. As soon as I got the cigar lite I realized something was wrong. I was getting very little smoke even though it was going pretty good. Sadly I let this go through most of the first third just trying to massage out some hard spots. Finally I cut off about an inche from the cap to get through a particular hard spot. Boom smoke!
The Taste:
So of course I missed most of the first third. Even with the poor smoke I was getting a lot of the cinammon flavor from the wrapper with a lingering whiskey sweetness. Kind of like the after taste after sipping. On the second third, after fixing the issues, I got a lot of flavor from the smoke. I'd describe it as cinammon coffee with a shot of whiskey. The whiskey sweetness really seemed to linger the longest which I really enjoyed. This tasted stayed most of the second third varying in strengths. The last third was my favorite. The cinnamon combined with another spice which I can't really place, but was a almost wasabi to me. The enitail flavor was cinammon sweet with an almost wasabi flavor kick at the back end. The wasabi flavor seemed to really prick the tounge to which I enjoyed...I love wasabi.
Overall I'd like to smoke one of these again. The cigar stayed well lite with a very crisp burn and produced lots of smoke after being fixed. I feel like the draw issues was either my fault or a bad one in the bunch as iv not had many terrible constructions from my cao experience. Of the infused cigars iv had such as acids and the de Javas, I feel this had more ponitial. Probably not going to be an eveyday smoke but definitely a try again. I'll be recommending this to a few friends that don't smoke often and like the infused cigars.
