  • BOTL UPCOMING MAINTENANCE

Hi Everyone, as mentioned in my introduction post, BOTL needs quite a bit of updating, patching and whatever else I might come across. Over time BOTL may be unreachable on occasion as I do migrations or updates, etc. Just be patient - we'll be back! I'll generally try to keep these maintenances until later in the evenings.

How do you carry a small amount of baccy if you are going to a nice place to smoke? Ziplock baggies, one of those leather zipper pouches, a plaid tri-fold pouch.... How long would you let your baccy in the container you use and still feel it is safe and not drying out?

I have one of the small leather single pipe pouches. I normally only put PA in it though for your same concern of drying out. If I were to put any better baccy in there I think I would put it in a zip lock, then put that in the pouch. Then I could easily return the remainder to the jar.

When I go to pipe club I actually bring a back pack with a handful of tins that I have open. Not exactly classy, especially compared to some of the nicely crafted pipe bags some of the other guys bring.

I only have smoked at home.... But I did order a nice leather pouch for carrying my pipes in if I ever do go somewhere.... Lol but I would just carry my baccy in a zip lock. I don't see the need for a nice leather pouch just for a few bowls.

Well I don't usually go nice places to smoke unless it's outdoors, I have used both the leather pouch and the ziplock and haven't ever had an issue with anything drying out if I smoked out of it for a day, any leftovers got placed back in the jar

I've been carrying mine to and from my B&M lounge in the zip lock bag they gave me when I purchased the 2 oz of baccy. Yeah I know it's not the best way but for now until I get a nice pouch it'll do. No one judges, plus I've been the only one pipe smoking in the lounge when everyone else has their cigars lol.

I have a 10-count herf-a-dor that I use to take a pipe somewhere with me. It holds a pipe, several pipe cleaners, a couple of sample-sized baggies of baccy, my pipe tool, and a lighter.

So, I guess "technically" I carry it with me in a Ziploc to answer your actual question. But the whole kit is the cigar case

hmmm, ziplocks it is. The reason I asked was, I have one of those leather zipper pouches and I put some baccy in it, but in several days it was totally ruined, dry as a popcorn fart. So bad that I tossed the tobacco away. Never used it again, but I wanted to see if there was something kinda nice to carry to a B&M without looking like the hill billy I am:)

Ziplock bags work well for me as I've sent some NY baccy down south to a buddy of mine in South Carolina. He said it was moist and consistent like a baccy should be. But for my inventory, I've actually been keeping my baccy in the zip lock bag that it was put in from the local B&M shops. So far it's holding up really well. And I'll probably continue to use it because I have no where to store jars of baccy. Just keep it out of the sun and a cool, dry place. In my case, my dresser drawer right below my cabinet humidor.

When I use a leather pipe bag with a tobacco compartment I still leave my baccy in a plastic bag. This makes it easier to handle leftovers, keeps the baccy from drying out, and keeps the pouch clean.
