A little background on this one before I jump in. I Came home the other day only to find a box in the mail from Big Cle that I wasnt expecting at all. He was in Charlotte last week and we met up for a smoke. When I got there he had a Viaje Holiday waiting for me and it was a great stick along with some good conversation. Long story short I forgot to give him a welcome to town pkg I had in the car when we left and had to send it out the next day. Cle couldnt leave well enough alone and returned my box with smokes I havent had the opportunity to try. This Casa Fuente was one of those. Thanks agian Cle!!
Casa Fuente Corona Gorda
5.75 x 46
Cameroon Wrapper
Air Temp - 92
Pool Temp - 89
Beer Temp - COLD!!
Prelight Thoughts
Appearance is what I would expect from a Fuente of this reputation. Wrapper looks perfect with no defects and mininmal veins. Cigar is firm from head to foot. 1/4" punch on the top and the draw is free just the way I like it. Initial flavors immediately make me think of graham crackers?? Crazy.
Light Up & First Third
This cigar lit with little effort and had great smoke output from the onset. Wood and almond flavors with the presence of spice are there without the spice being overpowering.
Almost into the second third the flavors change to more of a creamy leather. Burn and draw are spot on and the white ash is still hanging on.
Second Third
Ash fell of right at the start of the second third. The draw and smoke output are still consistant with no burn issues at all. Flavors are the same with Leather being the dominant but the spice and wood (cedar) flavors return as it transitions into the final third.
Final Third
Cigar finished great. Spice picked up towards the final 1" or so and the cigar never got really hot. Prominant wood flavors prevailed and I enjoyed it from start to finish.
Total smoke time 1.5 hours
Final Thoughts
This was an enjoyable cigar and it also happened to be my favorite size. The fact that it was gifted by someone that wanted me to enjoy it made it even better. I do have to admit that I think I find the regular Opux X Fuente Fuente to fit me a little better, I would have to smoke nothing else if I was stayin in Vegas.
Thanks again Cle!!
