  • BOTL UPCOMING MAINTENANCE

Hi Everyone, as mentioned in my introduction post, BOTL needs quite a bit of updating, patching and whatever else I might come across. Over the next few weekends BOTL may be unreachable on occasion as I do migrations or updates, etc. Just be patient - we'll be back! I'll generally try to keep these maintenances until later in the evenings.

Caution about drinking and driving this Christmas

I would like to share an experience with you all, about drinking and driving. As you well know, some of us have been known to have had brushes with the authorities on our way home from the odd social session over the years.

A couple of nights ago, I was out for a few drinks with some friends and had a few too many beers and some rather nice merlot. Knowing full well I may have been slightly over the limit, I did something I've never done before - I took a bus home.

I arrived home safely and without incident, which was a real surprise, as I have never driven a bus before and am not sure where I got this one.

As a victim of a drunk driver, I have no tolerance for Drunk Driving. Its just too easy to choose a Designated Driver, call a friend, or take a taxi/bus. Most of the bars I know will gladly call you a taxi and often they will pay the taxi driver if they deem you too far gone.

I actually find it more entertaining to watch my mates get hammered whilst I'm sober, hours of fun taking the mickey out of what they did or said that they can't remember

and sometimes telling them about things they didn't actually say - but they don't know the difference, of course!

I'm as pure as snow and wouldn't do a nasty little trick like that.

Ok a dog pissed on my bit of snow and that really is the best bit.

A drunk driver all most cost me my life, a week in intensive care, 2 weeks in traction, hip surgery, rehab, 2 year recovery.

But I haven't lost my sense of humor, lol.

But if you do drink and drive.... there is a special place, oh never mind!

Guys, i apologise if I've upset anyone, I was trying to illustrate that you can have a great time without drinking alcohol. You should also remember the morning after the session as you will probably still be unfit to drive or operate machinery.

Where I work we carry out random testing with our permissable alcohol level set at 30% of the legal drink drive limit in the uk. You can't mess about with electricity at 400,000 volts.
