  • BOTL UPCOMING MAINTENANCE

Hi Everyone, as mentioned in my introduction post, BOTL needs quite a bit of updating, patching and whatever else I might come across. Over the next few weekends BOTL may be unreachable on occasion as I do migrations or updates, etc. Just be patient - we'll be back! I'll generally try to keep these maintenances until later in the evenings.

I thought this was a very interesting concept Cigar City Brewing, Tampa, FL, is trying....

Humidor and Wood Aged Series

Release Date: Varying Releases

The Humidor Series is a rotating offering of Cigar City Brewing beer aged on cedar. We change the offering for every release so that more of our beers get to luxuriate in cigar box cedar.

Cedar has a more subtle effect on beer than more traditional woods like oak. But, we think that once you taste it you'll agree that cedar deserves a place along side oak in the brewer's wood-aging toolbox. Humidor series beers will vary due to style, but are always a good option for pairing with a fine cigar.

This is another one of there beers I'm looking forward to trying....I just got to get down to Tampa first....

Maduro Oatmeal Brown Ale – Maduro is a Northern English-style brown ale with some American affectations. It is unlike the typical American Brown Ale, as it doesn’t have the big hop character common in American-brewed Brown Ales. And Maduro is higher in alcohol than the common English brown ale. Maduro also has oats, in the malt bill which imparts a silky body and aids in making the roasted, toasted and chocolate components mesh together in Maduro's complex malt profile. The end result is a remarkably full flavored yet approachable and sessionable brown ale that pairs well with cigars. 5.5% ABV

Tasting Notes – Big caramel and toffee in the aroma with moderate notes of roasted nuts and hints of chocolate. The flavor opens with toasted bread and moves into a prominent caramel sweetness and then notes of roasted peanuts and finally fudgey, chocolatey, coffee notes linger into the finish.

Is that Opus X on the label of this beer?
