  • BOTL UPCOMING MAINTENANCE

Hi Everyone, as mentioned in my introduction post, BOTL needs quite a bit of updating, patching and whatever else I might come across. Over the next few weekends BOTL may be unreachable on occasion as I do migrations or updates, etc. Just be patient - we'll be back! I'll generally try to keep these maintenances until later in the evenings.

I don't think we are doing Six Flags. My son is turning two this weekend. I think we are looking at staying on the Riverwalk and going to the Zoo. Also, making a trip to the Rainforest Cafe. He loves that kind of stuff.
Gotcha, yes that is going to be fun....check out the pearl can't go wrong there, thats more for adults but worth a shot...

What's the Pearl? Also, any good places to smoke around the Riverwalk?
the pearl is awesome, full of fresh organic restaurants, craft beers, organic margaritas coffee shops...an outdoor multi bistro type of venue...beautiful man...you can take the family down to the actual river...good for photos etc

-around the riverwalk I'm not too sure, maybe others could chime in, (SA being a non indoor smoking city)....I would say if I were downtown I would plop in a nice spot on the riverwalk chat see if it were ok and light up...

Well, this post has gotten a little attention since I was last here. I didn't think there was much interest early on and frankly have been absolutely swamped with work, so I haven't had the chance to deal with it much.

The original intent of a "Centex" Herf was to have a herf for people in the Centex area . N.Texas guys have their thing and I wanted a thing for people around this area (people from all over are obviously welcome).

The original thought was to keep it within around 100 miles of Austin (Austin was my original location idea because it is pretty centralized for central Texas), so people will not have to drive over 2 hours (unless they want to) to get to the herf.

I am open to where we have it, but we need to remember that no location will ever be perfect for everyone. If we want to move forward and do this early spring, we need to have this worked out quickly and I suggest by Friday or Saturday at the latest, so people can plan. What we quickly need to determine is:

Location: Austin Texas
Date: April 18th, 2015
Time:
TheMischman suggested having it in Belton at a park there, so that is one location on the board to be considered.
Everyone post what is good for them and we'll try to make a decision as a group. If things are too far varied and there is no consensus, my recommendation will be:

Location: Austin, Texas
Venue: TBD
Date: April 18, 2015
Time: TBD

@Cigarsnjeeps Being that I'm back in the States now I can find out some details about having it in Belton. I'm cool with Austin if no one is interested in doing it in Belton. Just let me know what the general consensus is.

Ok, I'm gonna call it as Austin based on the replies above. I will revise the details above as we make decisions and then start a new thread once we have the details worked out.

Anyone have a preference or idea on a location? Inside or outside? I personally prefer outsider but we may wanna have a backup in case weather is bad... Emma Long Metro Park may be a good location. It is right on the water of Lake Austin and has picnic tables barbecues etc. I wish I still had my pontoon boat because that would make a perfect herf location.

Probably not for this go around, but next time, we should try to get about 10 people who are willing to spend $50 each and we can rent a pontoon for 8 hours to cruise lake Austin and smoke stogies. If 8 hours is too long, it gets cheaper at 4 hours or whatever. Would really be a blast if we ever get this rolling in the future to be able to do that on a grand level with one of the big Lake Austin Party boats and just have a huge herf one night on the lake with food and drinks.

I'm way late to this thread, but as a Houston brother I would make the trek to Austin. Unfortunately I have plans that particular weekend, but if this takes off I'm all about joining in.
