Chateau Real by Drew Estate

Let me first say that I am not a big Drew Estate fan. But, I thought I'd get these for a friend that likes mild cigars and I figured I would give it a try while sipping on coffee and reading the morning paper. Note: If it were infused I probably wouldn't have given it the time of day.

The beginning was pretty uneventful. I didn't pick up any overwhelming flavors but it wasn't unpleasant or anything. Half way through I got a slight bit of sweetness that complimented my coffee. The last half was actually kind of nice and I picked up more flavor that I can't quite explain.

The construction was really nice and the burn was perfect. The cigar feels nice and heavy in the hand and overall, while it's not my flavor profile, still a decent smoke nonetheless. Draw was easy but not too easy. It reminded me of the 5 Vegas Gold actually... just more expensive.

Even if you're not a Drew Estate fan, you can't deny that the Chateau Real is a genuine, well-constructed, even burning, typical NORMAL CIGAR.

I think that's a big deal considering that it's from Drew Estate.

I mean, they weren't traditionally in the business of making normal cigars, so something like this proved they're totally capable of doing it.

Now granted, most of us who are past the "couple of cigars a year" phase are going to find that it's a relatively bland and unexciting, flavor-wise. So if you want a Drew Estate cigar that's NOT INFUSED (ie, "normal cigar") but actually does have the kind of flavor that cigar enthusiasts like us enjoy, then I'd highly recommend you try the Liga Privada #9.

It's a damn good cigar.

Duane you are right i have had the Chateau and natural lines. Just not my cup of tea i guess i am a little biased. But have not had the Liga Privada #9. But because of past experiences with the line i just overlook it completely.

I have yet to try the natural, but the CR Maduro is a very good stick, one of my favorite cheap maduros atm (that's the sweet type of maduro, as opposed to the 5 Vegas A or something).

I like a lot of DEs stuff, nearly everything is NOT infuse, by the way. Only the Acids, Javas, and CI Legends Copper actually. The Naturals line is...natural, i.e. not infused. Though some of them have slightly sweetened tips in that line I think.

I had a Liga Privada #9 in my hand at my local shop but put it down. I may pick it up next week when I'm there again.
