Chaveta Habano is a new offering from Chaveta that is limited to 50 boxes. Available at Tower Cigars.
The blend has been changed a bit from the standard Chaveta, and the wrapper is a medium brown Habano.
Construction was outstanding, burn was fairly even (windy) and the draw was perfect. Just what I've come to expect from the PDR factory.
PL. leathery and sweet tobacco with no spice. Scent was sweet tobacco.
1/3. Creamy. Sweet tobacco and nuts, with a faint spice in the very long finish. Great finish here. Reminiscent of some Cubans ... PSD and R&J short Churchill come to mind as well as NCs such as the Fuente Magnum and EL T. The reason I dwell on the finish here is it had a quality that I have most often experienced in CCs... It's a sweet lingering finish that slowly develops a hint of spice in the throat.
2/3. Very long finish is really enjoyable. Flavor stays similar but intensity increases. Med body. It's more leathery. Ash held solid for 1.5 inches. Pepper comes on light and very late on the finish. Very nice. As this cigar stabilizes a bit I expect the flavors will develop even more.
3/3. Less creamy. Coffee taste emerges. Spice ramps up slightly. A bit earthier. A slight sour note developed at the very end which I attributed to a need for a bit more drying time.
All in all I really like this cigar. It has the potential to become something quite special with a short amount of down time.
