I've appreciated Boom's workmanship from his photos for a few years now, and finally reached out to him to see if he'd make me a draw tool. One twist though, I asked if he could shape one in the fashion of a chess piece. I thought it would make for a unique tool. He was willing to oblige, and made me this great ebony piece shaped like a queen. He also made two pieces for friends that I'll be passing on as gifts. Very cool Troy - thanks for the one-of-a-kind accessory!
I'll see if I can get a different picture up, showing off the top. The "crown" part of the queen is inset, for lack of a better word... another way to describe it is that the crown comes up and back down to where the metal piece is. I don't know much about lathes and wordworking, but I'm guessing that took extra attention. It turned out really well.
