  • BOTL UPCOMING MAINTENANCE

Hi Everyone, as mentioned in my introduction post, BOTL needs quite a bit of updating, patching and whatever else I might come across. Over the next few weekends BOTL may be unreachable on occasion as I do migrations or updates, etc. Just be patient - we'll be back! I'll generally try to keep these maintenances until later in the evenings.

Guys (and any gals too): I'm going to be in Chicago quite a bit in the coming weeks. I know there's a statewide smoking ban inside restaurants, bars, etc...I've smoked on a few patios in the warmer months...BUT...I have yet to find a cigar bar where I can smoke inside. I typically stay out in the Roselle, Itasca, Wood Dale, Elk Grove area (basically west of O'hare)...I appreciate any and all recommendations. Thank you!

The only thing you can do is smoke in cigar shops & the ones in Schaumburg/Itasca will crucify you if you smoke anything you bring in. This is EVEN IF YOU BUY CIGARS THERE. The best location in the areas you mentioned is the Havana House (believe that's the name) at the intersection of Golf Road & Roselle Road. Decent selection & decent lounge. Nothing special. If I was you, I'd work my way 20-25 minutes from there & head either to Skokie and Cigar King or to my weekly HERF in Elgin/St.Charles. PM me if you are in town on a Tuesday at any point. This is not an event to miss.

On another forum I've heard mention of Jack Schwartz and The Burning Leaf, I think there are a few locations. Don't know these shops personally but have heard a lot of talk about them. Enjoy!

Come on down to Burning Leaf in Plainfield. As long as you buy a couple of cigars you are welcome to smoke whatever you want and there are always a couple of BOTL members hanging around at any given point. It would be about a 30 minute drive from where you are talking about staying.

I appreciate all of the info. I'm not exactly sure about my schedule, still making appointments and such for my trips.

I was in Rochester, NY, this week...fellow friend and BOTL'er FrankN suggested the Havana House, I stopped by, bought a stick (Kristoff maduro, new to me, liked it) and smoked in their member's lounge, very nice folks, they remembered him from his last trip there.

Kurt, will keep your herf in mind. And I definitely follow your advice when it comes to smoking in a shop, buying there is best.

I'm heading down to Burning Leaf on Monday w/ one of my buddies. I never been there, but I'm looking forward to it. You should check it out, I hear great things about their lounge and atmosphere.

Updown Tobacco lets you smoke inside, and I believe there is a lounge in Iwan Ries.

Iwan Ries' lounge is a pay only, IIRC. Up Down is REALLY small, I've been told.

The Leaf is great, but the drive from Roselle is far...

Try 8 to 8 in Villa Park or The Humidor in Wesmont. Both have an excellent selection and are closer and better than the Habana House. If you do have time and want to make the drive, Burning Leaf is nice.

Oh chit yes Monday may be a little busy! I have a few appointments starting at 10 am sharp!
I'm pretty sure I am going. Probably late morning-ish. If you can make it, great. Otherwise, we'll have to set something up another time.

Anyone else able to make it Monday?? PM me!
