I'm still pretty new to the whole pipe-smoking aspect of the hobby. What I'm curious about if any other aspects of a pipe shape affects the smoking experience? I'm already aware of straight-stem vs curve-stem, but I'm curious about other things that go into a pipe such as a wide and shallow bowl versus a deep and narrow bowl? A thicker walled bowl vs thinner one? etc. Does this affect the tobbaco or is it just aesthetics?

When I pick out a pipe, i tend to look at two things. Overall construction on how the wood looks, the mouothpiece fits, etc. Next I look at the shape and how it fits in my hand, my mouth.

I tend to grab medium sized bowl pipes. I love my Jess Chonowitz, my Ser Jacapos and my Bangs.
