  • BOTL UPCOMING MAINTENANCE

Hi Everyone, as mentioned in my introduction post, BOTL needs quite a bit of updating, patching and whatever else I might come across. Over the next few weekends BOTL may be unreachable on occasion as I do migrations or updates, etc. Just be patient - we'll be back! I'll generally try to keep these maintenances until later in the evenings.

Cigar case recommendations?

I'm looking for a case to take to poker night with me. It's just a few hours, so I'm just looking for short term storage for 2/3 sticks. I have a 5 count hard case, but don't usually bring that many, and I don't want to keep an eye on the case. I also figure I don't need the humidity control for just a few hours.

I'm looking for something I can put in my shirt pocket; I'm leaning towards a leather 2/3 finger case and then discovered the metal cigar case/flasks out there. I've also discovered that you can spend a few bucks to over a hundred on a leather pocket case.

Anyone use or have a recommendation on either of these types of cases? Are the cheap ones too cheap? Do prefer the "finger" type leather case?

I have a Xikar 3 finger case and it's perfect, you can usually find them online for like $40. Not that I ever go anywhere with it where long term humidity control is a concern, but the inside is lined in cedar. I keep the case in my wineador, so when I travel with a few cigars they feel right at home. :)

craftsman's bench, for like $20. don't need it to look pimp, need it to keep my stash from getting squished. j.c. newman shills them i think, so check your local if they have decent newman distro (like diamond crown and cuesta rey). have had one for six years and it holds up fine. except for the teeth marks, which are all my bad.

edit: if you only need it for an evening, the tins of 3pk opus x are reusable. $40- $50 for your sleeve, AND you get 3 opi!

I use a old CAO MX2 3 finger promo case I got a while back. Works great, and something a little different from the usual leather treatment. You might be able to find one out there for even less than the Xikar or other 3 finger suggestions.

I have a similar case. Has velvet on the outside? I like it -- pretty sturdy, the covering is nice, and I think I only spent $25 on it.

Same case, works great for what it is, mine was tossed in with a bunch of stuff at my B&M. Just putting it out there since one might be able to be snapped up for less than $20.

I have a few leather cases I got on CBid for about 7-8 bucks. Smallish, so only work for up to 50 RG, but they have been great.

Don't get metal, that can ruin the wrapper. I have the Xikar style 3-cigar case that has cedar inside and works great when you only want to bring a couple sticks for something. I bring mine on the golf course. You should look on ebay for some deals if you don't find a brand new one priced right.

I've dropped my case getting out of the car because I was carrying multiple items. That's why I either use my 2 cigar otterbox or my 5 cigar otterbox.

I use my diesel 2 finger most of the time. Can hold some of those fatter RGs, and shorter smokes don't get lost in it. If I need to take more than 2, I just use my hard case.
