  • BOTL UPCOMING MAINTENANCE

Hi Everyone, as mentioned in my introduction post, BOTL needs quite a bit of updating, patching and whatever else I might come across. Over time BOTL may be unreachable on occasion as I do migrations or updates, etc. Just be patient - we'll be back! I'll generally try to keep these maintenances until later in the evenings.

Not sure what this is called. But in my mind I am thinking of keeping the labels, pasting or taping into a book to keep records of smokes, taste, dates taste type thing. Have any of you seen these at a book store somewhere? Do any of you use one?

I think it would be cool to taste something today, then every 6-12 months try again and compare notes, etc.

There are some guys that do this, I don't. it's too much trouble for me, I just want to smoke and enjoy. There are some cigar diaries out there that you just fill out and paste the band in. I'm sure someone will post a link up for you.

I gave up trying to keep a "diary" years ago but I keep my bands in pages made for stamp collecting they work great and I suppose you could put in inserts with tasting notes.

I don't keep a diary, just my bands. I glue every band onto this huge poster, it's about 15"x10" filled right now.. I figure Ill frame it, and hang it in my man cave.

Yes I have a nice diary, but I made my own format and I have my own book for them. I really enjoy it, buts its easy to get behind, and it takes a lot of work.

I've been thinking about taking a photo album and sticking my bands in a book that way. Making a poster would kind of be a pain in the butt plus I'd fill a few of them up before I die, so I'd rather just keep a few books.

Sure Cole, I keep a journal. In fact I am on my 2nd volume. But since I kinda slowed down, Its now taking so long to finish the 2nd volume.

Check out the 2nd entry and read the review. This is how it looks like too..

I have one i could email you, it's in PDF format. Cigars international had one on there site a while back. I used it for maye 50 smokes thasn I got behind on the entries and quit. It does help you recognize what country/wrapper you like. I used a small 3 ring binder with page protectors. I'll check your profile to see if your email is there if not, PM me.

I keep a cigar journal but don't write in it near as much as I should. When I do write in it, it's usually whan I try something new that just blows me away. "Ho-hum" smokes never make in there, which is ashame because I should be logging all that I smoke. Lately, I've just been adding comments to entries I already have. Little add-ons to cigars I've smokes and liked before.

It's kind of fun to read through it and remember the times I smoked when I made the entries.

I'm with most of the others, a diary is too much work. I just loike to smoke them and hope that i remember what's good and what's not, which i usually do. I've also got years worth of bands that someday i'll glue onto some nice wood and put a frame around them...someday.

There's a post titles "Refining Your Pallate" that goes perfectly with this thread; keeping a journal and all. I would think it would certainly help in detecting flavors and profiles.

Hope it goes well for you, and good luck with keeping up with it.

I used to keep a journal or log about smokes. An odd note, but I found, if my wife asked about something, I would remember smoking a cigar, and could look back through the log and pinpoint or remember certain dates and other information by my notes. Just trying to say it will surprise you how much information you can recall by simply keeping a few notes jotted down in a log or journal. Can be very interesting and handy.
