  • BOTL UPCOMING MAINTENANCE

Hi Everyone, as mentioned in my introduction post, BOTL needs quite a bit of updating, patching and whatever else I might come across. Over time BOTL may be unreachable on occasion as I do migrations or updates, etc. Just be patient - we'll be back! I'll generally try to keep these maintenances until later in the evenings.

What's the verdict on the tins of cigars-cigarallos that I see advertised in smoke catalogs (ie Famous, Thompsons...)? Anyone ever give them a try? I was curious as to if they are made of the same tobacco(filler, binder, wrapper) that normal size smoke are made of.

When I first started smoking, I tried the Cuesta Rey tin, but they were terrible! Of course, I'm not even a fan of the normal Cuesta Rey smokes anymore. (Maybe with the exception of the Sungrown) But anyway, the tins seem like a good idea, as far as a quick smoke in the car or at the job, but I'm reluctant to try them.

I actually like the cigarillo tins. I have no idea on how they are made, i just assumed machine made with short filler. i would hope it is with the sraps from the original blend. The monte whites taste the same as thier larger cousins. I have also recently found the cuban mini, that are really good for a quick smoke. i'm partial to the partagas club

The Mx2 tins are really good. Normally they're the exact same blend as the larger sizes.

I know they don't come in tins, but the Petit Cabaiguans are the shit.

If you like the RP vintage, they make Juniors which are 4x38 five to a tin. Bit bigger than a Cigarillo, but not bad at all.

For tins my favorite smoke is the Acid Camroon Krush. I know, I know, call me what you want, my Mangina can handle it. Hell, at least I don't wear a pink cowboy hat.

I bought a tin of the Aroma de Cubas because the wife liked the tin. Very hard draw. I was disappointed.

I also keep some Partagas Black Label tins on hand for the winter months.
That is definitely one of the better ones. By and large, though, I don't like these. They burn too hot, and they generally don't taste great. I'd rather buy decent but inexpensive robustos or petite coronas and toss them partly smoked if I don't have time to finish.

Theres a tin that has 4 little torpedos of montecristo platinum. Seems kinda weird packaging but its kinda cool and decent cigars.

But like people have already said. The CAO Brazilia and Partagas Black are good.

The Hoya de M cigarillos are always in the mini Humi I built for them. They're good for me cause I have so little time during the day to smoke a full cigar.

I've never tried cigarillos, but I have three brands of handmade small cigars in my modest cooler. Padron Corticos, Cohiba Black Pequenos, and Partagas Black Pronto - all come in tins of 6 and all are the same size (approx. 4 x 36). Each of them tastes good to my novice palate, but the Cohibas are the most consistent and a couple of the Partagas have had draw problems for me.

I just met a botl for lunch and a cigar at a place with a cigar patio. He e-mailed me yesterday that he wouldn't have time for a cigar so I took some CAO Brazilia minis (1/2 the size of a cigarillo). Not quite the same as if we'd had cigars but it still worked out pretty well. Better than eat and run.

Like the Brazillia and Criollo CAO and there is one from Camacho. Size is just right for a quick lunch cigar or when going for a walk. Picked up a tin of the Brazilias yesterday since I am going to Myrtle Beach next week. These will come in good for late night walks on the beach after the family goes to sleep.
