  • BOTL UPCOMING MAINTENANCE

Hi Everyone, as mentioned in my introduction post, BOTL needs quite a bit of updating, patching and whatever else I might come across. Over the next few weekends BOTL may be unreachable on occasion as I do migrations or updates, etc. Just be patient - we'll be back! I'll generally try to keep these maintenances until later in the evenings.

Surprised I haven't seen this yet..

So I just got the email for pre-registration.. I've never gone to one... Can someone give me the low down on this?

Is this just a big herf in the lot lol? Which one is this best ticket price? I told myself this year I might actually go.. So I wanted to get some serious input for the brothers that have actually been there ..

So who's going and who's been there and what's it like?

Go!

You live fairly close.. so I'd recommend it.. if for no other reason just to see what its all about..

youll mostly end up with yard gars.. and low end/cheap accessories.. but for the price you pay to attend, the value is there (IMO).. and its cool to have a chance to meet Pete, JD, and other recognizable "personalities" all in one place at one time..

I went in 2013.. I knew I was going to be in NYC on business the week prior anyway.. so that negated the cost of flights, hotel, etc.. for me... and was worth it...

I dont know if I would recommend it to anyone that doesnt live within a couple of hours drive though.. tack on the cost of travel.. and for me at least the value probably isnt there...

To be honest, I probably enjoyed stopping by the 3 CI B&M's and attending the events and taking advantage of the sales there as much as I enjoyed attending Cigar Fest..

I made a day of it.. went to Cigar Fest early.. and was done there within 3 or 4 hours.. then went drove to each of the CI shops and looked around, had a couple of smokes, and made some purchases, taking advantage of their big Cigar Fest "Sales" (picked up a box of San Lotano Ovals for $80 IIRC.. and a box of Ramon Bueso Genesis for $45 I think).. then was back in the city at the hotel in time to catch dinner with the wife..

He's right. The number of sticks and accessories is worth the price of admission but you are getting run-of-the-mill stuff. If you get the shirt and hat that go along with the ticket, you'll end up with even more goodies.
Drew Estate takes over the upstairs portion of the convetion hall which is normally a good time. Last year, he was cutting and lighting UF13's for everyone....if you waited in line to see him.
Ifyou're thinking of doing one....check out Cigarnival at Famous too. PSJC can give you al the inside info on it.

Cigarnival is the two day (plus Thursday night) festival about enjoying cigars. Last years event started with a Drew Estates event on Thursday night, followed by golf on Friday (for those that play), and two days of cigars, food, drinks, and honestly a ton of fun! There are Friday only tickets, two day, and VIP tickets. The VIP's get their own section, extra cigars, etc. Everyone gets one cigar from each manufacturer each day. Last year I ended up with about 110 smokes from the two days. It was a blast. Pictures and info about dates, times, etc. from LAST YEARS event are still up on the site....

If I'm able to swing getting my hands on two tickets I'll be there. I have a friend flying up from Texas to join me if we are successful.

I've been to 5 cigarfests and 3 cigarnivals. Cigarfest is HUGE, 3000+ people over 2 days (1500 each day). It's worth the money but it's a cattle call. They herd you in you get your cigars and move on, you don't really get to spend time with any of the cigarlebrities. I usually go 4 the VIH ticket, it gets into the the show a couple hours early.
Cigarnival is smaller so you get a chance to talk to the reps at each of the tables. Only going to cigarnival this year if I can get tickets.
