I'm re-purposing the lid of a Diamond Crown box for an ashtray. The material is "felt like" with the company logo sticker. I'd like to cover it with something clear to protect the design. I guess a small piece of glass will be the best, least expensive option but is there anything at the home improvement stores that can be used and cut with hand tools? Would acrylic or polystyrene be resistant to the random cigar cherry ?

Could you make a mold or shape it then cover it with this stuff?

If I had thought it through I would have tested the epoxy on the felt covering the base but I covered it with the box top. I'll be in town today so I'll run over to the glass shop and ask them to cut a piece for me. Prior thread mentioned MinWax Polyshades to protect the wood but I'm not sure what that would do to the felt.

Ive used the bar top epoxy resin on a fuente lid that had the red felt and had no issues.
