Coffee Filters

I've purchased a Saeco coffee maker and it came with a screen filter or you could use a paper filter in it. Is there a noticeable difference between the 2, besides the cleanup factor,?

I may be crazy but I think that coffee becomes darker/stronger when using a screen filter.

When you use a non paper filter the oil from the coffee makes it into your pot. Most of it with a paper filter is soaked up and it can take away from the taste. Just take a look at the surface of a cup brewed with a paper filter then compare it to a screen you can see the oil on the surface.
