  • BOTL UPCOMING MAINTENANCE

Hi Everyone, as mentioned in my introduction post, BOTL needs quite a bit of updating, patching and whatever else I might come across. Over the next few weekends BOTL may be unreachable on occasion as I do migrations or updates, etc. Just be patient - we'll be back! I'll generally try to keep these maintenances until later in the evenings.

What can you tell me about them?

Not many reviews available online.. And I could only find a couple of vendors that carry them...

I found a few boxes today for 89 euro.. Which appears to be a decent price... (About $121 at today's conversion rate)..

And I generally like maduros...

Soooo... Worth springing for a box even though I've never tried one before?

I've never had one Dave but always heard great things. Plus the novelty of a cc maduro would pique my interest in general due to the novelty. If you have the extra $ in this months cigar budget I say why not?

I've almost talked myself out of them thinking $12+ a stick for a little 4 1/2 x 40... 45 min smoke seems a bit steep...

But...

Truth be told.. The opportunity to pick this sort of thing up doesn't present itself too often (never seen them at any of the duty free shops that I tend to frequent).... So I might have to bite the bullet and just do it...

Was hoping to find some RASS or Trin Reyes.. But they don't have any on hand here...

4 boxes of secretos they do have though :)

I've only smoked one Cohiba maduro, and was supremely disappointed. If I'm going for a maduro, it will most certainly be an NC.

That said: that's a sample size of one stick for one person. YMMV.

I've smoked a couple of OR boxes of 25ct magicos. Had a few of the other two sizes as well. If I were you Id wait till I got home and buy the 25ct magicos. Put them down for 2 additional years. And enjoy. Like chocolate ovaltine.
Btw the wrapper and filler is 3 years old already on these. Part of the cost associated with them.....

Toked up some magicos @ late 09

I enjoyed the couple I've tried. Definitely go after the Secretos, not the larger vitolas. Cocoa, milk chocolate, and hazelnuts. I really like them in the smaller vitola.

They don't really have that CC essence to them, and they're not what you normally expect from a maduro either. It's a totally unique smoke.

I have 1 left in my humi. They are delicious little smokes. They have the normal Cohiba complexity and they are about an hour long smoke. They are peppery leather little smokes. I say they kind of remind me of the bait fish but they are more on the complex side. It is a beautiful dance on your taste buds.

Hope that helps at all.

I like the one I tried, but they are plauged with construction issues from what I've read. I'd be real picky about buying a box of them. I saw some boxes of hq that I'd jump on, but out of the current budget as they were the 25s and I've already committed to other purchases...

Totally agree with this, however, they have a saltiness that makes them very unique. I Agee, $12 is a lot for the size but you should try a few. They are totally unique. On the other hand, three out of ten in the box I ordered were plugged.

Out of two 08 boxes I smoked thru (25ct) magicos I had zero pluggs. Also these come from EL Laguito. Really a shame to hear this about pluggs.

I have smoked a few--I really enjoy them and agree that they're unique. And yet when it comes to buying a box, I can never get myself to pay the premium over other regular production stuff I like better.

I have had the Magicos and I find them to be excellent. Just a pain in the ass for the price. But if they can be found for a good price I'd snag em.
