fuck. i just promised my manager that i wouldn't be taking any more friday AND saturday nights off after next wknd. for OU (and this one for mizzou). however, if there's going to be a monster herf friday night, they may just have to deal with it. I'm down for a box of the macanudos in tubo!

also, the tech game is the one that I gotta tailgate some with my other friends, since I'm making it the 1st annual jager bomb tailgate. of course you're all welcome. it's ERhine, Moe Slycack (sp?), BigCraig, WinStreak from hornfans and some others. I may have to shuttle back and forth b/w there and zachs. it'll probably be a night game, right? maybe, we could all go to Trudy's North afterwards and get lit. they're grandfathered in under the smoking ordinance in the upstairs lounge, which would kick ass.

Alright Mac! I will be having a tailgate for the Tech game too, although I think we are going to get a big one up for Colorado, so we may be all burned out.

Scott, can't wait to head up to Columbia this weekend! I am going to do some drinking on the way up and on the way back. I hope Nolan does not mind! Hopefully you guys will come stay at the house Sat night.

I bet this will be a late kick off. all tech games are, austin or lubbock. weather should be more pleasant by then, thus my friends will be out tailgatting longer. maybe we'll show up at 4pm for a 6:30 kickoff instead of the standard stroll up :45 before the initially smokey blast.

We're going to come in Friday night. I need to talk to the wife and see if she's going to let me herf on Friday. As it stands now, with a late kick on Saturday, she'll already be babysitting that night.

The smoking ban that will go into effect on Thursday restricts smoking to bingo halls, fraternal organizations and only this handful of Austin restaurants that have special filtration systems:

IHOP No. 1421, 707 E. Cesar Chavez St.

Trudy's, 8820 Burnet Road

Bennigan's, 13995 U.S. 183 North

Cool River, 4001 West Parmer Lane

Hooters, 13701 U.S. 183 North

Shoal Creek Saloon, 909 N. Lamar Blvd.

Trudy's, 4141 Capital of Texas Highway (Loop 360)

Iron Cactus, 10001 Stonelake Blvd.

LAME!!! But the good thing about it is the fact that 2 of the smoking locations are up north by me. Cool River and Iron Cactus. Both are nice places for a cigar as well as drinks with Cool RIver being the better of the two. If it looks like yall will be out on friday please post where and when )

All right... Here's the deal with a Friday night Herf... We can do this but we need to do it someplace that the Mrs. can come for a while and bring the baby. She wants to come hang out, me you guys and maybe smoke a small one with us. Then, she'll Baby Legends back to the hotel and I'll stay for some more revelry as long as I can catch a ride back downtown. We're staying at the Crowne Plaza on 5th @ IH-35.

Cool River is a fine place to do it. The big question is if Cool River is ok with Baby Legends being in the smoking room. We're fine with it because the room is large enough and she'll only be in there for a while. Can one of you Austin guys call and see if kids (with adults) are allowed in there?

If they wont allow it, then we can try either Trudy's North Star or Iron Cactus.

I've never seen any kids in the Cool River lounge area... doesn't mean they're not allowed, just never seen one.

I'll call tomorrow and post back in the thread.

also, what places with patios allow smoking out there? I know they have to have seats more than 50 feet fromthe door or some crap.

I wouldn't bring baby legends to cool river or iron cactus. they usually have a band and it can get pretty loud. the smoking room is secluded, but she might get scared on the way in and out.

I say we go for a venue with a patio in a central location; downtown.

I haven't been since the smoking ban, but maybe the back area of cedar door or mother egan's might work. they have like a permanent tarp over it, but the sides are open. I believe that would qualify it as being "outdoors". there is also a big front deck at cedar door that completely uncovered.

scott do you think the front porch of little woodrow's is far enough away from the door to allow us to smoke?

someone needs to check with the sfa, that place would be perfect. plenty of room in the balcony. good drinks. plenty of airflow for the baby, and a nice view of congress st.
