Outrageous prices like these are just another reason I like to listen to and explore new bands. Very few artists IMO make anything close to their first few albums because they're just about stacking the dough. Don't get me wrong more power to them but I think there's a reason why people make their best music while sleeping on their mom's couch or living in a rat infested ten floor walk up in the ghetto.
When I want to hear Van Halen I'll play an album, an early album.
depends on the band. i agree that many artists DO follow the cash. then again, if they stay with the scene that supported them, you actually see progress rather than degeneration.

anecdotal, but whatever: bouncing souls opening for bad religion in '10. the souls were celebrating 20 years, and BR 30 (tour shirt: "bad religion 30 years of punk f#@cking rock"!). both were touring with new material. and, having seen both WAY too many times, my $35 (?) ticket got me a show from both that was easily equal to anything before.
