Gripe of the day:
I'm not a sports fan so I shouldn't say anything, but does it bother anyone else that all of these races and playing fields have been taken over by the corporate sponsors? I know they've always been there and these events probably couldn't exist without them but I used to go to concerts at places like the Spectrum and the Capitol Centre. Now I'd have to go the Nissan Pavillion. Stadiums used to be named for people, like RFK, JFK and geographic locations like Three River Stadium. Now it's FedEx Field, Qwest Field, Bank of America Stadium. And the races. Is there still an Indianapolis 500 or a Daytona 500 or are they all the USG Sheetrock 400 and the Dodge/SaveMart 350? I mean, come on. The Sheetrock 400?
Forgive me for being a cranky old man but I liked the good old days when things had real names.
OK. I'm done now.
