Did up one of my favorite meals yesterday crock pot corned beef, cabbage and baby carrots. What I like about crock pot cooking is that I can prep it the meal the night before, put it in the crock pot before I go to work and it will be ready for me when I get home.

Have also done Pulled pork and Italian roast beef sandwiches.

So do any of you guys do any crock pot cooking?

If so let us know what meals you like to make and feel free to post any recipes if you like.

I'd like to start making some other meals in my crock pot, been thinking aboout giving Chilli a try.

Chicken corn chowder is my favorite crock pot creation. I don't have the recipe on me, but from memory its something like this:
Start with a cup or two of chicken broth. Ad to that two 16 oz cans of cream of whatever you like soup (i use cicken). Add diced onion, carrot, celery, potatoes, whole kernal corn and cut chicken. The fresher the veggies the better. I've seen it recomended to sear the meat first, personally I find that letting the juices meld with the broth adds tons of flava'. season to taste. I like salt, pepper, peprika and liquid smoke. If you want a cream base, add a half cup of half and half in the last hour of cooking. Stir when you an to promote even cooking. I usually put it on in the morning before I leave for work and its fne when I get him, but extended cooking time only helps (like a fine stogie). This is pretty close, if you want the exact recipe just pm me. Good luck and happy cooking!

I love doing pulled pork in the crockpot. One small bottle of coca cola or dr. pepper, one pork roast, cook on low about 6 hours, then flip it over for another hour. Remove the pork, shred the meat, empty the liquid, put er back in there about another 30mins and stir in your favorite bbq sauce.

Couldn't be easier.

Pasta sauce in the crockpot; I do this weekly.

2 bottles of jar sauce
package of Italian sausage, even from frozen

on low all day while at work; when you get home, make some pasta.

sausage gives the jar sausage some great flavor, and melts in your mouth.

Beef Stew, Corned Beef, and Beef Brisket.

Beef Stew with vegetables (almost a beef bourguignon due to the amount of red wine) works very well in the slow cooker. I use the same recipe for corned beef; however, I use a tasty dark beer (or, a sweet white wine), in lieu of water, and plenty of sweet vidalia onions, to provide an extra layer of flavor. The beef brisket works well after searing the roast in a skillet, using red wine, onions and a medley of mushrooms, to provide flavor.

Will try some of those. Mostly use ours for pot roast and sloppy joes. Never use a recipe for either. For sloppy joes, I just brown pound and a half of ground beef and then toss bunch of stuff in there. lol. Onion, garlic, dry mustard, brown sugar, vinegar, a little bbq sauce, a little ketchup, a little worcestershire, a little Frank's...and whatever else strikes my fancy - let it sit all day and always comes out pretty satisfying

I have heard of this method being really good (I have actually had a "fish boil" this way, but done with sprite, very interesting flavor). You just made me realize that I have to try this method for pulled pork!

Personally I use it for soups and stews also pulled pork. I can also second the cola or dr pepper in with the pulled pork. Pair that with some carolina bbq sauce and its great. I have tried to do beef roast but i always nuke it. Imo your better off doing a beef roast for a few hours when you have the time.

as a college student, I do lots of crock pot cooking.

A pork shoulder will last me at least 3-4 days

I use Dr. Pepper or Coca Cola with some chopped onions and minced garlic in there as well.

I never use my crockpot, but will start now!! Man this all sounds great. They cola or Dr Pepper sounds amazing. No concerns about leaving it on for 8 or so hours unattended?
