  • BOTL UPCOMING MAINTENANCE

Hi Everyone, as mentioned in my introduction post, BOTL needs quite a bit of updating, patching and whatever else I might come across. Over the next few weekends BOTL may be unreachable on occasion as I do migrations or updates, etc. Just be patient - we'll be back! I'll generally try to keep these maintenances until later in the evenings.

This Headley Grange Drumstick came to me by way of a side trade with a member of/r/cigars by the handle of carstenosu. It was really great of him to set up this trade as the Headley Grange Drumstick was proving extremely difficult for me to get my hands on.

[h=1]Nose:[/h]The smell off the Drumstick is outrageously good. It reminds me distinctly of the pilones of tobacco I smelled in Nicaragua. Very strong and rich tobacco.

[h=1]Construction:[/h]The Crowned Heads Headley Grange Drumstick LE 2013 comes in a lancero vitola measuring 7.5” by 38 ring gauge. Crowned Heads describes the cap finish on this as a traditional flag cap. This was released as a Limited Edition with 1,500 ten-count boxes being produced.

[h=1]Flavor:[/h][h=2]First Third[/h]The first few draws on the Drumstick deliver some fairly strong pepper. There are notes of hay in the post draw. After a few draws the pepper lingers almost like the flavors from spicy food.
At about the 10 minute mark I’m getting cocoa flavors with some light leather after taste. The cocoa sweetness picks up at the one inch mark.
[h=2]Middle Third[/h]Largely hay and grass moving into the second third. It’s a fresh green grass flavor with some nutty notes. As the middle establishes itself some sweet tobacco flavors come through with a medium intensity.
[h=2]Last Third[/h]The tobacco strength from the Drumstick is really kicking in as the cigar moves into the final third. Just loads of ligero. There’s no drop off in flavor complexity at all.

[h=1]Burn/Draw:[/h]Total smoking time was right around the 1 hour 50 minute mark. The ash held well, even with a heavy wind. No issues with burn at all.

[h=1]Value:[/h]With such a limited production run you would think that a cigar like this would be pretty pricy. Singles are at the $10 mark and boxes of 10 can be found between $90 – $100. That is an outstanding value for a limited edition cigar.

[h=1]Final Word:[/h]The Crowned Heads Headley Grange Drumstick LE 2013 is an excellent cigar. I wish I would have smoked it sooner. There is a lot of flavor complexity and and lots of tobacco strength to match it. I’ve already added a box of these to my wish list. You’re absolutely doing yourself a disservice if you don’t try one of these while they’re available. I predict that this cigar is going to end up landing in my top 5 list for 2014 reviews.
