I wanted to get my 2 cents worth in on this stick as I am sure there will be many reviews to follow. This particular cigar is the Corona Gordo measuring at 5 3/4 X 46. The wrapper is an Ecuadorian Habano Oscuro that is very dark and oily. There are a few visible seams and a few veins but the overall appearance of the stick is beautiful. It just looks delicious. The cigar is solid with no soft spots and has a nice triple cap. The scent off the wrapper is rich mocha and earth. The foot has a good barnyard smell. I gave the cigar a straight cut.

Pre-draw showed a very good draw with just the right amount of resistance. Good spicy tobacco, earth and hints of graham cracker. There was noted saltiness when the tongue was place on the filler.

Initial puffs were spicy and rich tobacco flavors. There was a good bit of pepper spice on the retro with notes of graham and a bit of mocha. The cigar produced an ample volume of smoke that was nice and viscous.

First 1/3 About 1/2 inch into the smoke some sweet cedary notes start to appear with some pepper spiciness at the back of the roof of my mouth. This intensity was much reduced from the initial few puffs. The cigar very quickly developed deep, rich, sweet mocha notes and I begin to pick up on some floral or fruity notes on the retro. The retro at this point very early into the first third was effortless with no nose burn. The room note was simply beautiful with a toasty nuttiness. This smoke is medium in both body and strength at this point. This is a very smooth, well integrated and elegant smoke thus far. Burn and draw are excellent with a solid light charcoal grey ash that holds solidly. I tend to ash after each section of a cigar that I am trying to review because I find that if I am going to pick up on subtle transitions I can more easily do so right after ashing.

Second 1/3 This is about 20 minutes into the smoke for this cigar. After ashing the sweetness has built with very clear notes of graham, nuttiness like toasted walnut. Very creamy. Some warm cinnamon notes are present as well as some leather. It is smooth, smooth, smooth. The cigar wastes no time getting into it's wheelhouse. The fruity, floral notes (orange blossoms?) are very present on the retro and to my taste the pepper has been replaced by warm cinnamon spice. This flavors are just so well integrated. Body is building a bit toward the medium-full range but everything is in near perfect balance. The walnut notes built steadily and were very noticeable at the end of the 2nd third.

Final 1/3 Entered the final third about 50 minutes in. I removed the band. The burn at this point is not razor sharp but it self corrected and no touch ups were required. Flavors very consistent with the 2nd third though the cinnamon spice was replace with a shot of red pepper. Some coffee notes appeared instead of the mocha. The finish was just excellent. Creamy, nutty and mouth filling with a more intense pepper and leather on the palate. Total smoke time for me was about 1 hour and 15 minutes.

Excellent to the nub .
Summary This is one of the best cigars I have had this year. Just for the record anyone who doesn't appreciate having this cigar on the market is being extremely short sighted. This is an outstanding effort. My congrats to @JonHuber and all the folks at Crowned Heads and the My Father team. This is a winner.
Scoring I hate assigning numbers to something as temporary as a smoking experience but it seems to have some value to some cigar lovers. I rated this cigar using the following to try to keep it as simple as possible. Each category I assigned 15 possible points. The categories and point allocation were as follows:
Appearance 12/15
Construction 14/15
Draw 14/15
Burn 14/15
Taste 14/15
Total 68/75 or a final rating of 90
Don't pass this one up. Definitely box purchase worthy. I for one am glad that this one is going to be around for a while. As someone said to me a week or so ago (I think it was Wes from Crowned Heads) if buying LE cigars and hoping the price will go up is your investment strategy you might want to rethink that strategy or get yourself another broker.
