  • BOTL UPCOMING MAINTENANCE

Hi Everyone, as mentioned in my introduction post, BOTL needs quite a bit of updating, patching and whatever else I might come across. Over time BOTL may be unreachable on occasion as I do migrations or updates, etc. Just be patient - we'll be back! I'll generally try to keep these maintenances until later in the evenings.

Cigar: Cruzado Dante (5 x 48)

Cost: It was part of a 5 pack Cruzado sampler

Drink: Pepsi

Appearance: This has a criollo wrapper on it. It has a pig tail cap. There were no major veins showing. The band is very detailed and old world looking.

Taste of the cigar: This cigar had a citrus flavor to it. I also picked up some cream and nutty tastes. I picked up pepper at the very beginning, but it quickly faded. It is a pretty darn complex cigar.

Construction: Held an average ash. The draw was decent. The cigar required a few touchups.

Strength: This was a medium-full cigar with it being more on the medium side.

Summary: This cigar was pretty good. I want to see what the other sizes taste like. I give it a 7.5/10.

wow, only a 7.5. I know that is how you call it but I would give the Dantes another chance, I have smoked all sizes and several of each and I come back to the Dantes and the Marelas as my favorites. Thanks for the review.

Damn, I really like the Cruzados....I'd say it's one of my favorite releases of 2008.

I'd personally rate it higher than a 7.5/10, but then I guess that all depends on the criteria of your 10-point scale, eh?

I second that, and Dante has been one of my favorites all year. Give this one another chance...Not to tell you your business this of course is IMO.

i got a sampler of these as well. certainly is my favorite of what dion has put out so far. i noted one evening i smoked one, can't remember the size, after having smoked a couple of cc's during the day and found that it followed right in their footsteps. the thing i really noticed was while the flavor was not quite as strong, the aroma and smoke were almost identical. really an enjoyable cigar.

I've been fortunate to sample these early on and The Dantes is my favorite of the Cruzado line. Power levels may not be up to Illusione line levels, but that's not the key to this line. Dion was shooting for Substantial Flavor Development over shear power.

I, for one, feel that He Hit that goal very nicely.

An Excellent Cigar!

Is this not one of Dion's cigars versus Pete?

"Another premium, hand-made line of cigars created by Dion Giolito, creator of Illusione.

A Nicaraguan Criollo wrapper encases the blend of Nicaraguan and Honduran tobacco. Dion describes this blend as full flavored / medium bodied - toned down by using viso instead of the stronger ligero in the filler.

Made at the Raices Cubanas factory in Honduras."

Pete did not make this cigar. It was Dion Giolito.

You are of course Correct.
My own damn fault for typing about a Cruzado while smoking A Conjonu 03.

I apologize To Both Men!

I submit myself to a well earned time out!

Found these cigars to be ligher than what I expect, tasted some what on the sweet side, looser roll, and had a quicker burn then I wanted, but a half decent smoke.

I've let mine sit out in the basement for an hour or so before I light it. It's bolder at a lower rH.

This line ROCKS more than the gold label ~illusiones~. I think that I'm going to give up the illusiones for awhile and stick with the Cruzados...no offense Dion, but the Cruzados fit me much better than the sig. line of ~Illusione~.

I have tried the Illusiones and like the a lot. Had a couple of the little figurados of this line and decided to pick up a box of Dantes. What a wonderful cigar. Not the kick you in the butt variety but subtle and complex. I am enjoying these immensely.
