Curing Cigar Acquisition Syndrome

In an attempt to break the never ending cycle of identifying, seeking sales and acquiring new cigars I have removed myself from all the cigar site email lists. Sales and hype mean impulse purchases which leads to more and more cigars resting, possible for many years.

I'm now lonely. Canceling these subscriptions has emptied my inboxes. An occasional link to a sale for Cubans, maybe a message about a review but the urge to purchase has diminished.

I know many of us have this problem and similar to saving the second half of a po-boy for tomorrow this may be the first step to breaking a dependency.

1 cigar down a mountain of cigars to go!!

Po-boy! Might I ask where you’re from? Dirty South La myself, and not a term I hear used correctly from non native folks. The ever irksome “poor boy” makes my skin crawl.

but back on topic. As I have found a number of cigars that I could smoke happily till judgment day, I still subscribe for those ultra rare actual deals. But the impulse buys on the “oh, that sounds like a good deal, let me try that” has lead to 10 tuppadores being filled........

Even the native Texan knows that chocolate stuffed King Cake is a no-no. As is serving crawfish that were previously frozen. Had that happen once...in the middle of the actual season no less. Not a common occurrence at all but still...in Texan terms i imagine that is the equivalent of making salsa from ketchup or "barbecuing" a brisket in a crock-pot...

@Texican Used to be a buttery, rich cinnamon filled dough sprinkled with colored baker's sugar, Now it just ......whatever? They can be pretty good but not the original. Just like I had an argument about Creole Mustard. Creole mustard is ground mustard, vinegar a touch of water. When you add stuff to it don't call it Creole Mustard.

Don't you know that when you put bottled BBQ sauce on something it automatically qualifies as BBQ?

trying for 2 years , but they keep on putting my favorites on sale, so now I just look at the mountain of boxes I have to smoke, and push away from the computer.

I expect to zero the credit card this month.

There’s no cure for CAS / CAD…at least in my case. I try, of course, but yah, when a good deal on a favorite of mine pops up, my willpower melts like ice cream on a sidewalk in June. I should unsubscribe from ALL of the mailing lists but Just. Can’t. Do. It….

It is like me seeing my stash depleting and thinking I'll just smoke what I have and then quit. The health benefits and money savings seem great untill I realize I have room for another box. Then I fall apart like a Jenga tower in a kindergarten class.

I’m in process of moving, 95% of my stash is at the new place so now all I have is one small 25ct humidor....
