IMO, perfectos are the ultimate cigar shape. They look great, light easily and allow you to vary the cut opening. I bought a 5 pack of these several months ago and decided this afternoon was a good time to see how these tasted.
The cigar had a nice appearance - with a smooth, medium brown wrapper with a couple small veins and a satin sheen. The roll was springy but not overly so. The pre-light aroma was mild with a touch of spice. I clipped about 3/16" off the end and found an easy draw with minor resistance. It lit easily and quickly.
The first inch was rather unremarkable. Quite mild with a vegetal flavor. Once the burn had reached the full girth of the cigar the strength increased to the mild-medium range with woody / toasty tobacco flavors. I occasionally had hints of a mild jalapeno spiciness. The finish was rather dry.
At the halfway point the cigar increased intensity to the medium-full range, where it stayed the rest of the way down. The flavors were still of woody / toasty tobacco but they had also become fuller and richer. The jalapeno flavor was gone now - replaced by mild pepper. Throughout the smoke the ash remained soild and the burn even.
Overall this was a very, very good cigar. It appears though that few places sell these now so I'm assuming it was a limited release.
