The Griffin is 16mm (38/40 rg) and the Lion is 18mm (42/44 rg) both crafted by Ozgur out of meerschaum, beautiful.

My guess is they were very popular in the old days (pre 1960s) when smaller ring gauges were popular. For me, smaller gauge cigars get overheated quick and a mouthpiece keeps the smoke cool without changing the qualties. I have a 50rg that a rarely use.

Just made. Emailed the maker (Ozgur) pics last week. The Griffin is from a my SAAB's hood emblem.

Boswell's pipes also makes them from briar. He does have them up for sale on his website from time to time in various RG's. And reasonably priced too.
