  • BOTL UPCOMING MAINTENANCE

Hi Everyone, as mentioned in my introduction post, BOTL needs quite a bit of updating, patching and whatever else I might come across. Over the next few weekends BOTL may be unreachable on occasion as I do migrations or updates, etc. Just be patient - we'll be back! I'll generally try to keep these maintenances until later in the evenings.

cutter recommendations?

Okay brothers I am in need of a decent cutter and I am open to all suggestions and would like to try and keep it around 50-60 bucks? I don't usually smoke anything bigger than a 56

Thanks in advance!

I use a xikar spectra and have done so for 5 years.

Its a champ. Ir's been left out in the rain, brought to the beach and has not had a soft life. It still looks brand new and works perfectly.

I've heard nothing but great things about Xikar's quality and warranty.

Have you ever had to use the warranty since you've had it?

Lots of great choices: Palio, various Xikars, Swiss Army Knife (SAK)... It all depends on personal preference. I think more people prefer Palio to Xikar, but not by an overwhelming margin. They feel different in the hand, so your best bet is to try various cutters belong to friends, cigar shops, etc. Personally, I own them all, but I find that the one that I use most is the Xikar Multi-tool, which has a cigar scissors. It has a loop and is always on my keychain, so I don't have to carry a separate cutter. Have fun trying out all of the options.

I meant to mention that too - in the 5 years I've had no, never sent it back. I should because it's free (correct?) and they take it apart, clean and sharpen. I'm pretty sure you only pay for postage and insurance. Honestly, it is still in such good shape and I do wipe it down every now and then.

The multi tool looks like a great idea. I like the convenience of it having a loop to carry it on my keys. Hopefully my B&M has one I can look at.

Have the Xikar Xi3 and love it. It weighs more than the 1 or 2 and just feels good in the hand, substantial. Have had it for over a year now and would highly recommend it.

Xikar Xi3 for sure! If you ever have a problem, which is unlikely, you can take it to ANY shop and exchange it. My buddies Palio broke and he had to mail it off and it took 5 weeks. Thats a long time to be using a cheap freebie cutter.

I think Xikar is the way I will be going. I've toyed around with the palio's and Xikar the past couple of days and after that I think I have my mind set on Xikar. Now just need to decided if it will be the multi tool with scissors or the Xi3.

thanks for all the input!
