Okay.... bear with me here, I am going to get long winded a bit before the review....
I was fortunate enough to attend a dinner hosted by Davidoff while at the show, and got this cigar that I will be reviewing tonight. Very cool function where I talked to cyrann a bit as well as Sam from Casa de Montecristo, two great guys. I was tasked with grabbing a table for 6 when it started, so I darted in and grabbed us a spot. Well it turned out we needed 7 seats so I scrambled to get another table up front. As good fortune would have it I found one and ended up sitting right next to comedian Ron White(Zino Platinum ambassador, who now has a signature line). It doesn't get any better than that!!! But come to find he's just a guy like you and me and loves his cigars. I tried not to be a fan, but I have seen him before here in town and he is a riot! Curiously asked him what he liked to smoke and wondered what he smoked on stage, he went to tell me he's a big Davidoff guy. Had 2 offers from "big name" cigar companies and called Davidoff figuring "I might as well sign with who I am smoking anyway". Davidoff quickly was interested and thus his new line is out now. I commented it sounded like a win - win situation and he said... "in my book, if ain't a win - win, it ain't a win". Great guy, and left me with an experience of a lifetime!
I couldn't find much information on this cigar. Cigar is a good looking robusto sized cigar with minimal veins. Prelight got a hint of earthiness and spice. Time to fire this sucker up.
First third cigar is burning and drawing great. Picking up some earthiness, some leather, cedar and that Davidoff musty taste or "Kelner taint" as gibble calls it. Smokin' gooda so far. Medium body, medium strength so far.
As I get in the second third, the strength has picked up a bit. Cedar has picked up and the leather has faded a bit. The gibble "taint" has faded as well. Burn and draw have been spot on. Oh, and the Dogfish 60 minute is really good too.
Final third the cigar has built in strength but really any more complexity to it. Cedar and hit of pepper with a long finish. Enjoyed this cigar and the Dogfish was really good as well.
