  • BOTL UPCOMING MAINTENANCE

Hi Everyone, as mentioned in my introduction post, BOTL needs quite a bit of updating, patching and whatever else I might come across. Over time BOTL may be unreachable on occasion as I do migrations or updates, etc. Just be patient - we'll be back! I'll generally try to keep these maintenances until later in the evenings.

So I tried this from the sampler I got from Madison just about the minute it came in.

For the first time ever, this is a Kelner stick, that does not have any of the Kelner "mustiness" that some have come to love OR hate. There is some dryness, but that's it.

If I smoked this blindly I would have guessed Nicaraguan, maybe one of Dion's brands.

It's reeeeaaallllllly good. Robust and meaty, with strong coffee notes and a rich leatheriness and a full-on strong aroma. This is by far Davidoff's strongest and potentially best(time will tell) cigar to date.

Woot!

Thanks for the review! I smoked one of the Robusto-sized yesterday. That one did have the signature "musitiness" (I love it personally). It had it (the mustiness) in the pre-light sniff, and in the taste of the smoke. It was a very rich tasting cigar, medium/full bodied with lots of complexity and length. There may be a box in my future!

I smoked one yesterday and found it to be harsh during the first and last third. It has potential for sure, don't get me wrong. The aroma was amazing, but these need to sit a while before they're where their supposed to be.

I smoked one of the Notables today, and thought that the flavors were nice. It is a little light bodied for my palate, and they were extremely wet. I had to relight mine about 20 times no joke. Plus the ask blossomed like a flower, it was very strange. I would say dry box these bad boys for at least 48hrs before smoking them right now. The box packaging is very similar to the 100th anniversary. Decent cigar, and the price point isnt terrible like most Davidoffs IMO

Thanks for the information, Zen.

I've been interested in these since first hearing about them.

What price range are we looking at for these sticks?

Thank you, Brooks. You're always a helpful gentleman.

They're not nearly as expensive as I thought they would be. I may have to purchase a couple of singles and give them a shot.

I picked up the corona gorda while in NY today - paid about $20.

My impressions were that it was not as strong as the Millenium blend, not as 'refined' or 'clean' tasting as some of their other blends; it didn't have as much 'mustiness', but still had a bit of that signature mushroom taste.

Overall: it was pretty good, not $20 good, not even $15 good - can't say I'll be buying many of these, but I'm happy to have tried it - perhaps I'll try the other sizes as they become more available...

I'm going to have to agree w/ brooks 100%. You nailed it, pretty much my EXACT thoughts. Though, a lot of folks I've asked have liked it a lot. Surprising for sure, I'd rather smoke a 2000 for the price.
