OK, as if it wasn't hard enough in the first place to decide which cigars to go with, now I have to decide which box codes. Thoughts and suggestions please:

RYJ Exhibicion No.4 ORE or LOB NOV 04, ORE SEP 04, RAM ENE 05

Montecristo No.4 AIS,ORE,HFR or JHT OCT 04, AIS or ENH MAY 04,SCE AGO 04, JOF SEP 04, TPX ENE 05 (thinking probably 05 just for becase...)

I'm thinking of going with the 05s in both cases, but what are your thoughts?

Well, if you want to try a "fresh" one, the '05 would seem to be the best choice. If you just want to put them away, I guess I'd go with an older '04.

These are for smoking. Some of them will, by virtue of my smoking habits, end up sitting around for a while, but for the most part, I plan on smoking them now.

I have mixed feelings on this one. I have some 04 R&J Ex #4's and although they are smoking OK, I feel they can benefit from some more time. The Monte #4's are very inconsistent IMO but can smoke great without a lot of time.
How's that for help. :dunno:

i dont see why you're going after the 05s? all the raving about how great the 04s WILL BE in a short period of time... most of those should either be coming out of any type of sick period, or halfway there...

if you're looking at smoking something young, go for the 05s. i'd probably roll with the oldest boxes you could get in '04 of those. construction has been superb of everything from mid-03 to current that i've had the chance to smoke.

i would like to see why you're leaning toward the 05s though. i thought ppl wanted cigars to have a little bit of age on them before they got burnt (except most ppl who smoke PSD4s).

IHT, going with the 05's simply because they are new honestly. That, and I don't want any smokes in a bland period. I would be going for older stock if anything listed was in early 04, but everything available seems to be from late 04. I figure if they don't have that much age on them, why even bother?

That being said, the Montes may end up being the May 04s. It'll depend on what feedback I get from the two folks grabbing a fiver from that box.
