  • BOTL UPCOMING MAINTENANCE

Hi Everyone, as mentioned in my introduction post, BOTL needs quite a bit of updating, patching and whatever else I might come across. Over the next few weekends BOTL may be unreachable on occasion as I do migrations or updates, etc. Just be patient - we'll be back! I'll generally try to keep these maintenances until later in the evenings.

I was wondering a couple of questions. Is the double bladed guillotine a better idea and why? Also, what does everyone like more...sissors, or guillotine, etc. Not including a punch or v-cut.

Hmmm, I'm not sure double over single blades are preferred for any particualr reason other than what the user prefers. I use both. A single blade Little Havana cutter and a double blade Palio. I like them both equally even though the single blade is less precise. I just use it in the car because it is smaller and cheap.

Definitely gotta go with the Palio...I've used the single blades before and it would always seem to not want to put part of the wrapper off when it went through. Pretty frustrating

I spent about 5 bucks on a single blade cutter 4 years ago. I still use it to this day and it works great! I tend to dislike the double blade cutters. They seem to leave alot of tobacco pieces near the head for me. I'd rather spend the extra dough on cigars instead of having 50-100 bucks on cutters. Everyone's different though.

As far as double vs single blades go... The single ones tend to crush the cigar more cause you are pushing the blade into the side without a blade. If you have a nice sharp double blade like a palio or Xikar a quick snip gives you a nice clean cut.

I like to use scissors, I find they give me the best cut with out all of the little pieces of tobacco left on there. I used to use a xikar scissors, now I use a SAK. LOVE IT!

I have a good Xikar I keep in my home.

But you now what ! My 1.99 cheapie cutters I buy at my smoke shop both single and double blade work good also. I keep these eveywhere, in my office, car and golf bag.

I think when they are new, they all give a good cut. Its after a while and after many cuts is when it starts going downhill. A good cutter will outlast a cheapie one anyday of the week.

I have a Palio,SAK and a little Havana & 5-6 others and I think the little Havana is hands down the best but only for smaller ring cigars the next best I have is the Palio I just can't get the hang of the SAK. IMO

Palios are 44.95 I believe. I hate those little pieces of tobacco.
$39.95

The Palio is my "go to" cutter and has been for years!

I also like the SAK second and the new Xikar third.

Whatever gets the job done without screwing up my smoke!
